VEGAMOUR Launches the Industry’s First Full-Line of CBD Products for Hair Growth

June 25, 2019

Introducing the first scientifically-back CBD line to improve and strengthen hair for scalp, lash and brow!

Check this out:

  • 100% vegan formulas
  • 94% more effective lash/brow density & volume delivery
  • 70% less hair shedding after 4 months
  • 50% greater hair density after 4 months
  • 34% more effective lash/brow length delivery
  • 0% negative side effects

It’s true, y’all. VEGAMOUR has created what could be the world’s cleanest, most effective hair restoration formulas – with trusted, scientifically proven ingredients, and without harmful toxins or unwanted side effects.

I just met with Dan Hodgdon, CEO of VEGAMOUR to learn about the new CBD line, the difference between their approach to including CBD compared to the rest of the market, and learned about the full line, which I am now a seriously obsessive fan girl of. So, the new line that is blowing me away consists of:

  • CBD & Biotin Vegan Hair Gummies, which are the first hair vitamins to harness the powerful CBD medicinal and therapeutic benefits along with vitamins and minerals that feed and support hair growth
  • CBD hair growth serum for the scalp
  • CBD hair growth serum for the eyelash
  • CBD hair growth serum for the eyebrow

Dan Hodgdon is the Co-Founder and CEO of VEGAMOUR, a vegan hair wellness company that uses powerful, plant-derived actives with proven clinical and visible results. As a pioneer in the beauty industry working with renowned brands, Hodgdon quickly realized there was a need for clean, natural products that could effectively stimulate hair growth. This was the driving factor behind launching Vegamour, the world’s cleanest, most effective hair restoration formulas on the market. While having been exposed to diverse cultures when living all over the world, Hodgdon acquired a keen interest in biodiversity and would go on to spend years both researching powerful plant actives and also creating sustainable, eco-friendly supply chains for major beauty brands around the globe. Hodgdon was instrumental in establishing a Fair Trade co-op that harvested the highest quality natural actives, including the company’s staple ingredient, marula oil, while providing sustainable, eco-friendly work to over 5,000 women in southern Africa. With a belief that the healthier you are, the better you feel, Hodgdon continues to create a company based in downtown Los Angeles that obtains a mindfulness toward social impact and ethical responsibility.

So, what is VEGAMOUR?

It’s a vegan hair wellness company that uses powerful, plant-derived actives with proven clinical and visible results, announced today that the company is the first in the industry to launch a full-line of scientifically-created CBD serums and nutraceuticals to promote healthy hair growth for the scalp, lash and brow.

This topical product line is made by decreasing the size of the CBD molecules by over 1,000 percent so that the CBD particles are able to penetrate the skin more deeply and are proven to deliver increased efficacy.

“Our research has shown that CBD has inherent, clinically-proven actives that naturally work in tandem to stimulate healthy hair growth,” said Vegamour CEO Dan Hodgdon. “There are several companies that have announced CBD-infused beauty products as a way to be part of the CBD trend, but they often aren’t sourced or manufactured correctly and in many cases, they’re incorporated into formulations which don’t allow the CBD to actually penetrate the skin and thus consumers are receiving little-to-no benefit. Our first-to-market topical line of CBD serums is designed to penetrate the skin and has proven to stimulate hair growth by increasing blood flow around the hair follicles while reducing inflammation.“

– VEGAMOUR

The company, which has always had strict ingredient guidelines and has always stayed away from the harmful chemical ingredients found in most pharmaceutical hair growth products, will be extending their CBD line from topicals to ingestibles and supplements to create a full CBD hair health line, resulting in stronger, thicker and healthier hair.

“Our line of full-spectrum CBD hair wellness supplements work in tandem with our topical CBD serums by providing additional synergistic health benefits such as balancing the endocannabinoid system for overall peace, stress reduction and improved sleep,” adds Hodgdon.

– Dan Hodgdon

The first CBD product set to launch from Vegamour will be CBD & Biotin Vegan Hair Gummies, available in June, which are the first hair vitamins to harness the powerful CBD medicinal and therapeutic benefits along with vitamins and minerals that feed and support hair growth. The CBD serums for the scalp, brow and lash will soon follow this summer and are all available for presale now.

The scientific research that is behind the Vegamour CBD line shows that CBD reduces stress and anxiety, improves sleep quality and helps the body produce less cortisol, which is known to cause weight gain and increase hair loss. These CBD products are also known to reduce inflammation of hair follicles and increase blood circulation of the follicle, all of which promotes healthy, natural hair growth.

All of the Vegamour products are 100% vegan, gluten-free, gelatin-free, and made in the USA.

BAXTER OF CALIFORNIA UNVEILS NEW “LIFE LIVED TRUE” CAMPAIGN WITH JULIUS CEASAR

May 29, 2018

The stunning men’s grooming barber shop Baxter Finley Barber & Shop, 515 N La Cienega Blvd LA unveiled a gorgeous visual campaign, an exploration of LA’s subcultures and it’s nothing short of incredible. I am obsessed with everything from Baxter, Julius and the incredible photos by Marcus Holt.

Head Barber Julius Ceaser

INSPIRATIONS: With these hairstyles and choices of products, I took the time to really try to understand the culture in which Baxter’s Live Lived True campaign stood for. Once that was made clear, I brought out a strong focus in building imagery that can be interpreted through hair to truly accentuate each individual’s own unique personality. In Today’s world, its almost an “anything and everything goes” type of expression, but it is important to let that translate almost instantaneously. Social Media gives the attention span a very short window, so the delivery of style must be intricate yet legible on the surface. With these looks, I made sure to not alter the individuals away from their genuine lifestyles, but made sure to bring their strong features to the forefront. Nothing is worst than style that reads off forced: you can see the discomfort in it all. One’s hairstyle and how they choose to present it to the world is definitely a prominent expression of freedom and life lived true.

HOW TO’S/NAMES:

RODNEY-  “THE SOPHISTICATED JIMI”

The Sophisticated Jimi brought back the nostalgia reminiscent of Woodstock and revolution, whilst pushing the envelope with a modern twist. The hair was set to bring out the natural fullness in curls by using Clay Effect Style Spray blowdried with a diffuser on medium heat low speed and lightly combed for a laser sharp side-part. As a musician, its important to find inspirations from the legendary forefathers of the game, and innovate new waves for today’s era. This pertains to not only through developing iconic sounds, but custom-tailored imagery…even with the choice of hairstyle.

ALEX PEDRO -“MANCHESTER SHAG”

The resurgence of longer hairstyles have been quite evident, and feeling like a rockstar has always held its place in prevalence in culture. Cut past the shoulders with added medium to long layers, and topped off with a soft fringe to frame the face, the Manchester Shag immediately yells out leather jackets and indie shows. This amazing hairstyle is meant to look free of worry, but with ideal attention to minuscule detail. Clay Effect Style Spray diffused in with towel damp hair is a great choice to pull out those layers and have them sit nicely on a modern approach to a classic shag.

ALEX CUTLER- “SUNSET SLICK-BACK”

Paying homage to classic Southern California sunsets and kick-push culture, the Sunset Slick-Back is meant for those on-the-go, while still looking good all at the time. The hair has been cut to be easily styled in a multitude of forms to fit whatever occasion sees fit. For everyday get-up and go styling, Clay Effect Style Spray  applied liberally into towel damp hair and blowdried with medium heat high speed using a vent brush and locked in with the cold setting, and followed by a hand applied finish of Cream Pomade. A more sleek look can be achieved by simply applying  Soft Water Pomade to towel-damp hair for a manageable shine and amazing hair.

REBECCA -“TEXTURE EL NATURALE”

The care-free and accentuated raw edge approach renditioned thru the Textured El Naturale, fits well with today’s visual artists. cut short and square with the purposeful texture and wispy outline; the delivery of this confident look can work quite well with those that choose to be different without forcing it too heavy. A light amount of Clay Pomade emulsified into the fingertips and palm can be applied onto towel damp hair followed by natural air dry to carry out a low maintenance hairstyle that is easily manageable throughout the day.

Phytomer’s TRÉSOR DES MERS Beautifying Oil Face, Body, Hair is my go-to dry oil right now. It uses five marine and plant oils to quench, nourish and protect skin.

I spray it literally all over, first body, a dab on face, then smooth excess into the ends of my hair.

Johnny Wright,The Man Behind Michelle Obama’s Gorgeous Locks Rocks My Hair at Salon Kazumi

December 23, 2017

Celebrity Hairstylist Johnny Wright
Joins Salon Kazumi in Beverly Hills

Johnny Wright, renowned artist who was personal stylist to First Lady Michelle Obama over two terms JUST CUT MY HAIR!!!

And it’s the best cut I have had in years. YEARS. And, Johnny is now my official go-to-rec from Groomed LA. So, if you ask me who to go to cut your hair, I will send you to Johnny.

Salon Kazumi lucky to have landed this celebrated hairstylist and educator.  Of course, Johnny is renowned for his work with First Lady Michelle Obama and lucky us, he has returned to the west coast after almost a decade of being based in Washington D.C. as her personal hair hairstylist.

In 2002, Wright began working with L’Oreal where he stayed for 16 years, moving from technical consultant and platform artist to lead educator and on to artistic style director.  In 2007, Wright moved to Los Angeles to work at the esteemed Frédéric Fekkai salon, and to pursue a styling career in television and film.

It was an earlier event in 2007 that caused Wright’s career to truly become a part of history.

President Obama had just announced his campaign, and an opportunity arose for Wright to style First Lady Michelle Obama for an Essence photo-shoot.  They hit it off, and as she traveled to Los Angeles for television appearances, Wright continued to style her. After creating her look for the Democratic National Convention in 2008 and a Vogue cover-shoot in 2009, the First Lady asked Wright to move to D.C. to be her personal hairstylist.   Wright maintained this role through both terms and traveled with the First Family to over 40 countries around the globe.

Wright’s work has appeared in major national and international publications including Glamour, Essence, Vogue Italia, Ebony, Time, InStyle, Parade, and People, among many, many others.  From politicians to celebrities, Wright’s client list includes Queen Latifah, Kerry Washington, Maxine Waters, Samira Wiley, Tamron Hall, Regina King, Karrueche Tran, Reese Witherspoon, Vivica A. Fox, Yvette Nicole Brown, Sherri Shepherd, Naturi Naughton, Vanessa Williams, Lauren London, LisaRaye, Janelle Monáe, Syleena Johnson, Shaun Robinson, and Candace Bushnell.

Salon owner Kazumi Morton and Wright bonded over their mutual commitment to education and encouraging young talent.  Kazumi explains, “Johnny is an amazing stylist and I am so happy he is joining our close family of talented artists.  His ability to work with all types and textures of hair, combined with his warm personality and winning-manner, makes him a perfect fit for Salon Kazumi.”

Wright adds, “What attracted me to Salon Kazumi was, in addition to the intimate setting and Kazumi’s positive and supportive attitude, was the true sense of kinship that I found there.  There is a real exchange of creative energy between the stylists and colorists at the salon and I know my clients will feel as equally comfortable and at home.”

Is Grey The New Black? Michelle Ray reports…

Part Two of Michelle Ray’s journey: My Transformation + the benefits of going grey

After weeks of looking at gray, silver and white haired women on Pinterest, YouTube, Facebook and Oprah Magazine, I decide to embrace my real hair.  Maybe not all of it, since I have no idea what it’s going to look like!

So I ask my stylist, armed with a dozen photos, the big question:

What about letting some of my real color grow in as my new “base,” adding some color for contrast?

I held my breath, waiting for him to say how much older I would look and how horrible that would be.   Then he said “Yes. Of course.” And he got to work, leaving my roots untouched while adding fine ash blond highlights to my hair.

Even with wet hair, looking in the mirror  I’ll never forget that distinct feeling of relief. I feel  brighter, softer, more real.  I was thrilled.

“When do I come back? “ I asked.

“Wait as long as possible” he replies.

My skin looks brighter against the lighter hair.  I go lighter and lighter. I choose to cut a decent amount of my length to just above the shoulders, as the bleach is damaging and my ends are frizzy.

But I feel better and don’t cringe at the silvery color now that it blends with the highlights instead of screaming loudly against my old brassy brown hair.

Feb. 2017 after 2 rounds of highlights & lowlights

I share my story with everyone who will listen. I notice women with grey hair everywhere and stop to compliment them. I am unabashedly obsessed with gray hair!   My Mom gets inspired and goes gray too.  She receives many compliments on her bright white hair.

Grace Ilasco, co-owner of the Color Lounge in Burbank, California, offers a “Fifty Shades of Gray” transformation from colored brown, red or blond tresses to an all over adjustment to match or blend seamlessly with the client’s grey, white or silver roots.

This can be accomplished in a 8 or more hour appointment (record is 16 hours!) or in a few sessions.

Some benefits of not coloring :

Freedom from constant root touch up appointments

Healthier, shinier hair

Hair that naturally compliments skin tone (which changes slightly with age)

Less exposure to potentially toxic chemicals

More free time, less driving and sitting in the salon chair

Savings of $1,200 – 2,500. a year or more depending on frequency and type of color

There’s nothing wrong with coloring your hair, but know that you CAN be beautiful, sexy, even glamorous with your own natural color, no matter what that is.
