We were thrilled to chat with Brooke to hear more about this exciting evolution of her power-house brand. 

What made you decide to create your own line of nutritional super powders?

  • I’m always interested in evolving the Brooke Burke Body brand. Longevity by Brooke Burke Body is a collaboration between two like-minded brands that was, quite honestly, a really natural fit. I’ve really enjoyed being in the lab and being part of the development process. We hold each other to a very high standard and refuse to compromise the integrity of the brands, the quality of the ingredients, or the delicious flavor.

What makes your line different from the others? 

  • Everything about Longevity by Brooke Burke Body is different! Once you try it, you will be able to tell immediately. We use better ingredients. We don’t skimp on taste or flavor. And we’ve made fueling your body super simple. We have packed a lot of high-quality ingredients in one blend which means you don’t have to have a counter full of additional supplements or spices to make a great shake. I really do feel like the two scoops of Longevity that I put in my shake every day are fueling my body all day long.

  • There are so many! We’ve been experimenting with power snacks and baked goods, in addition to the shakes. One of my favorites that I keep in my freezer (my kids are always eating them, I can’t make enough!) are pitted dates, with a spoonful of almond butter. I sprinkle the Cacao flavor of Longevity on top of them to create a high-energy, high-protein snack. We also have a recipe for high-energy snowballs for the holidays, which is super fun to make with the kids. It’s oatmeal, honey, almond butter, and Longevity. You just roll them up and put them in the refrigerator and you can sprinkle coconut on top to make them look like snowballs for the holidays! What’s next for the line?

  • New flavors! There’s talk of a fruity flavor powder for kids that reminds them of their favorite cereal as well as bringing in matcha and vanilla flavors. We’re also experimenting with different recipes to make it super easy and simplified for all our subscribers. The mint flavor is also delicious for the holidays!

My most sacred time of the day is….

  • My most sacred time of the day are mornings alone which can be hard to come by. Because I have a blended family, I really cherish moments alone when I can drink my coffee in bed, catch up on the news, do some mindful meditation and set intentions for my day … even if it’s only for 10 minutes without any devices. I’m trying to do a mandatory tech break every day, which is really hard to do because I run my business on my phone, but I think it’s really essential to give our brains a break from screen time. I’m trying to make that time meaningful and mindful.

My non-negotiable morning ritual is…

  • Coffee! I’m very specific about my coffee – I do drip coffee, I froth my milk, I have a special glass, I do a dash of cinnamon, I like it really hot. I even have a favorite to-go cup I take when I carpool the kids to school.

My go-to chill-out routine looks like…

  • Burying myself in someone else’s story by watching a great TV series. I’ve worked my way through everything, I think. My favorites of the year were Yellowstone and Handmaid’s Tale (obsessed!). Handmaid’s Tale was so hard to watch because it’s so dark but it’s truly one of the greatest series I’ve ever seen.

My guilty pleasure is….

  • Believe it or not, I really enjoy my mindful meditations. I have a gorgeous collection of sound bowls. I get a lot out of that time in my garden. I’ll go outside by myself and play my sound bowls and it’s a total reset whether I’m in a funk or need a mood shift or raise my vibrations or increase my energy or just chill out – that’s my go-to pleasure. It’s the hippy in me!

One thing I wish I had told my teen self is…

  • I wish I would have taught my teen self about stillness and the power of stillness – though I know she wouldn’t have listened or believed me. What I’ve learned in my 50s is the doing of not doing is a real thing. In other words, carving out time to do nothing is invaluable and it’s the only way we can listen to the language of our own heart; it’s the only way we can learn about ourselves and it’s the only way we can really look inside. Even laying down for 5 minutes all alone. If you’re brave enough to do that work, it’s invaluable.

We are already over the moon about this line and can’t wait to see how it progresses!

BACK TO SCHOOL WITH DOUGHNUT X FP MOVEMENT

This is my all-time fave time of year. Pumpkin everything is right around the corner, kids are heading back to school (HOORAY OMG) and all things fresh happen now.

The only bummer with school being so digitized is I no longer take them on those epic shops at Staples for pens and notebooks. I do, however, order new lunch boxes and backpacks!

With their load being a little lighter, this year I tried out a smaller sustainable Doughnut x FP Movement collab for my son going into 6th grade. And grabbed very cool, waterproof bag for my daughter’s cameras (she shoots all day long at school).

 

This collaboration products feature earth tones. For Free People promotes outdoor activities, and Doughnut promotes exploration of the world. We intended to show our shared values by engaging the earthly nature in this series.

In 2010, fresh out of university, two adventurous graduates, Rex and, Steven embarked on a mission to find the perfect backpack to accompany them on their upcoming travels abroad.

The bag they envisaged would be fun, functional, but most importantly, affordable. A bag that is capable of holding up against all the knocks and scrapes their expedition could throw their way.

Unfortunately for our two youngsters, they couldn’t find themselves the perfect backpacks, so it seemed the only option left was to design their own!

A decade later, what started as a small factory run of 100 backpacks has now turned into a globally recognized brand, available in 30 countries and counting. I love meeting new experts in the dermatology and aesthetics field. When I think back on the evolution of it all, it’s truly incredible how far things have come. I get a major thrill meeting the new, young practitioners who are currently gaining momentum. It’s always interesting to learn what makes them special and why – in a field that has become so popular. What is their point of view? How is their eye? Are they jumping onto trends defined by social media and filters or are they finding their own vision? You get the idea!

Board-certified dermatologist and double-fellowship trained cosmetic surgeon Farhang recently expanded her practice from Tucson to Beverly Hills and is now seeing patients at her new part-time clinic within Sunder Plastic Surgery on Rodeo Drive.

First off, is this doctor not the most divine creature you’ve ever seen? Especially in THIS SPACE, where so many injectors look like the really played-out, over-used, tacky AF, living embodiment Instagram filters!

No overly plumped lips, over-filled ANYTHING – she waltzed in looking so naturally beautiful, I knew right away, Dr. Sheila had an eye, and a tasteful one at that. That is very important to me when I meet a new provider in this world : What is their taste level? How do they see themselves? Etc…She was a class act head to toe. Elegant, understated and natural. Hence her natural approach has been hailed in all her press.

Featured in the NY Times for her “barely there” approach to botox and her subtle “lip flip” plumping technique, many of Dr. Sheila’s patients are new to botox injections and trust her natural approach.

Named by Women’s Health and Forbes as a top derm influencer, Sheila Farhang is a board-certified dermatologist and double fellowship-trained in cosmetic surgery as well as cutaneous oncology & reconstructive surgery. Dr. Sheila is an entrepreneur–both founder of her dermatology practice Avant Dermatology & Aesthetics and co-founder of her start-up health tech company, Vispera. Dr. Sheila is also known for her integrative approach as she is faculty for an Integrative Dermatology program and lived in Bali while obtaining her Yoga instructor certification. So I went in for a tiny basic touch-up – a little around the eyes, between brows, the light touch to soften my extremely emotive and expressive face.

Then we got down to business. How can Xeomin support me, beyond the obvious aesthetics?

First off, I suffer ( YES SUFFER!) from major Bruxism. That means, night teeth grinding, chomping my teeth until they are loose – I know, a real horror show – major gum recession, and more. On one side of my face, my masseter muscle pops out and it looks like I literally am sucking on a jawbreaker. So yes, there is a minor visual component, though it doesn’t really bother me because it only is apparent when I am talking or chewing or swallowing – none of which I do in the mirror. But there is a very real medical aspect – and that is, I have lost 4mm of my bite from clenching. I have headaches – it is a real issue – let’s not forget my teeth popping out and needing gum surgery.

So, we attended to that side. It has only been a few days – but will take some more to settle in. I cannot wait. We did a small amount so as to not over-treat, which can cause laxity. We don’t want that. So, Dr. Sheila said let’s under treat, see how this goes, and asses from there.

Next – my platysma muscles are, shall we say, EPIC. Truly so AGRO that I look like The Hulk. It’s actually disarming when I catch it on a zoom (I train clients on Zoom and can see them from several feet away) – It is like my neck is hosting an underground tree root party in the Redwoods. (Did that analogy work?)

We hit them up with some Xeomin to soften the bulges. They remind me of the trauma I experienced witnessing my mother’s varicose veins at the beach for the first time. “There are snakes under your skin! Truly just…ICKY. (And gross).

I loved my time with Dr. Sheila. The office is spectacular. I love that she is doing a lot of TV promo, sharing her expertise (you can catch her on a host of shows and news channels) and she’s young and hungry to be the best. Clearly, she’s already arrived.
