If you own a dog in Los Angeles, then you’ve probably heard and read a ton of harrowing stories about coyotes snatching dogs from backyards, attacking them on residential streets, and stalking pups on hikes. It’s out of control. I see coyotes daily, on the sidewalks in the city – they have come down from the mountains into residential neighborhoods and are utterly fearless. They can jump and scale up to around 16 feet, right up and our fences.

I have grown so terrified that I get anxious when Lolo wants to hang out and play in my yard. I used to let her hang out there all day, but now, after two friends losing their animals – a god and a cat, to coyote attacks, I don’t even let her out.
