After working with some of Hollywood’s brightest stars and in Beverly Hills’ most prestigious salons (he’s Fekkai’s former head stylist, for one), Yoshi Hagiwara decided to open a salon of his own, and my neglected locks are so happy he did! Located on the corner of Camden and Little Santa Monica, Yoshi Hair Studio is a minimalist, intimate little jewel box of a salon offering cut, color, a full array of very cool hair conditioning treatments, makeup and even a little blow-dry bar dedicated to gorgeous $35 blowouts.
Beyond giving me a gorgeous face-framing cut that looked as good when I styled it at home as it did in the salon, Yoshi joined forces with colorist (and wife) Colette to create the perfect shade of rich chocolate. Then, in an effort to add some youthfulness, Colette lightened up a few face-framing pieces to flawlessly fulfill my Alexa Chung hair obsession. All this while I sipped on orange and cucumber water while reading the latest issue of Vanity Fair (not a tabloid in sight, thank you, Yoshi.) I left the salon refreshed, relaxed and looking ten years younger. I
n a city filled with supermarket salons and haughty stylists, Yoshi Hair Studio is the ultimate find.
