SkyTechSport Ski & Fit left us wanting for more!

December 24, 2012

Last weekend, I had the chance to hit SkyTech Sport located at 243 N. Robertson Blvd. in Beverly Hills SkyTechSport  Having tried everything from spinning, power pilates, boxing and aquatic boot camp (Bootcamp H20 OMG can we say hard?)
I was a bit cocky walking into SkyTech – ski simulator? I got this.  15
minutes into my workout I was in need of water, foot massage and cocktail (this never happens) .
I
came in on a Sunday afternoon.  The two simulators they have were in
use.  A group comprised of 2 women and 1 man were in session and loving
it.  I chatted with one of the women.  She told me her boyfriend is an avid skiier while she was just getting into it.  10 minutes later my ski boots were
snapped on and my turn was up.  Looking at the simulator I assessed "ok so it looks like I'll really activate my core and glutes".  Turns out a
lot of your power in skiing seems to come from your feet and maintaining equal
balance.  Maybe it's because I haven't set foot in ski boots since I was
12, maybe it's because this was an entirely different workout than I am
used to but midway through my first lesson I whimpering in need of a break.
The coaches at SkyTech are encouraging, supportive and guide you every step of the way.
A great party idea. SkyTech reps tell me they are booked consistently every weekend with birthday parties.

Warning!
Below are the technical aspects of SkyTech Sport. Not as sexy and
glamorous as we hope but we are smart chicks too.  We dig science, math
and cool stuff that also help to burn calories and make us sweat
To sum it up:   A
cutting edge alpine ski and snowboard simulator that allows users to
experience the same G-force effects they would in well-carved turns on a
real slope, is being introduced to the U.S. market.  Started in Europe
and developed by top physicists, applied mathematicians and computer
engineers, SkyTechSport’s simulator utilizes top notch computer
sequences, power drives, accurate sensors and virtual reality compounds
to create a fully realistic simulation of the slopes.  Providing a
professional training platform year round for everyone from beginners to
advance.
Four powerful motors
are responsible for the simulation of the physics and mechanics of
skiing, creating the G-forces alpine skiers experience on the real
slopes. Customers can choose your trails and adjust the snow conditions
to be “ideal” or complex, including hard-packed, soft or icy snow. It
can also generate bumps on the slope creating almost mogul-like terrain.
In addition, a powerful 3D engine and a three-unit
multimedia-projection generate a huge virtual image of a running slope covering 170 sq. feet!
The Deets:
The SkyTechSport ski and snowboard simulator is currently used at more
than 100 training locations worldwide in countries such as Germany,
Czech Republic, Poland, Russia and Greece.
SkyTechSport
ski and snowboard simulators are available for purchase or to rent. The
Los Angeles  location is at 243 N. Robertson Blvd, Beverly Hills.  A rep
told me they recently disassembled a simulator for a benefit party – it
was a hit and the kids loved it!  One of the attendees of the party
(who may or may not be a well known director who's works include:
Lincoln, War Horse and ET to name a few) was so impressed he has
enlisted private sessions for his kids.   Stop by SkyTechSport if you
are looking for a fun afternoon, interesting date idea (Patti StangerMillionaire Matchmakerwhere you at) an exhilarating workout or just a good ol' time.
