One of my highlights of SpaPhile and Three Day Rule's recent Night of Beauty IV Night of Beauty was discovering Skinowl.
Amongst the hoardes of young women at this busy, buzzy Monday night event, lucky for me I found SkinOwl before leaving for the eve. Their
booth was busy. Without a chance to speak to any of the
reps so I threw their biz card in my back pocket and made a mental
note to get in touch with them during the week. Mid week I was exchanging emails with Annie Tevelin – the founder of the line. Annie couldnt have been more lovely and friendly. Shortly therafter she sent me info on the lines as well as
samples to try.
I was hesitant to apply scented OIL to my sensitive skin. Vitamin E oil? No problem I will liberally apply to my skin, hair, and legs. But argan infused oil and fragranced with lavendar, geranium and clary sage ? Without a doubt I would break out into a nasty case of hives. I did have an assignment on my hands however and I was curious what all the buzz was about. One night
I did it – generously applied the Lavendar infusion, brushed my teet and prayed I wouldn't wake up in need of a cortisone shot. Low and behold I awoke to glowy, hydrated and refreshed skin. I was hooked.
On the SkinOwl site Annie states " …This is a product where MORE is MORE. The more I
use, the more of a difference I see
in my skin, my cuticles, and hair. I choose to stick with a regimen
because the skin likes routine. I repeat, the skin likes routine." The more I think on that, the more relevant it sounds to me. My skin LIKES me when I cleanse, tone, treat, moisturize and protect. It likes me when I am caring and gentle instead of harsh and abrasive.
Finally I love this quote "SkinOwl provides more than
just skin care; it’s a core component of total self-care too. It’s a
moment in your day when you get to stop and truly appreciate the
skin you’re in. Think about it this way: 3 minutes on your skin can
turn into 10 minutes in a bath tub, then 20 minutes reading a book
in a bath tub, and maybe that book is about Italy, and you leap out
of the tub to book that flight to Italy! As
professional and busy women and men on the go it seems we have lost the art of relaxation and self care. To suggest spending time on our skin, bodies and diet suggests we are vain and selfish. How many of us book a montly massage only to leave the massage, dart to our car, speed home, check emails and zap a tv dinner all to get enough shut eye to hit that spin class in the morning. When are we truly able to turn it all off? One of my resolutions goals, rather, is to stay more present, slow down and appreciate the moment. I like that Annie implements this into her beauty philosophy as well.
At $30 bucks a vial, this stuff ain't cheap though worth every cent. You will see recognizable differences in your skin within a short amount of time.
This is definitely a product line and woman to watch.
