Ever wonder what someone like Molly Sims or Emmanuel Chriqui eats to keep those relentless bods? Wonder no more. PALETA, a newcomer to the home delivery gourmet food service is now available to regular folk like you and me.
At around $1200 a month for three meals and 2 snacks a day, it's not the same price as the three-bowl-of-popcorn-and-two-cheese-stick diet I try to exist on, but boy is it worth it.
I felt so healthy and clean eating their fresh, organic vegetables, chicken, meat and fish, it was hard to keep up my usual cranky, exhausted, I'm-a-mother-of-two-small-children demeanor. I don't want to oversell it, but for five days, I had a peace about my eating that I hadn't felt since I lived alone with no Poptarts, peanut butter, or cheesy poofs in sight.
My favorite breakfast was the Whole Grain Breakfast Wrap with egg whites, turkey bacon, guacamole and cheddar. It was one of the many meals they delivered to my door in this adorable cooler/bag that I ate and thought, "There is no way this is part of a low-calorie diet," and "There is no way I would ever take the time to make this for myself." My other favorite meal was the Tuscan Chicken with Rosemary Polenta. I'll admit, I'd eat polenta with Sweet n Low on it, but this dish was truly scrumptious and one of the most plentiful. But probably the biggest treat of the week was a handful of almonds that came with a small container of chocolate dipping sauce. Like a little high protein fondue. I was in heaven.
The best part of this service, and this might just be my gluttonous self, is that not only does the food taste like a personal chef has prepared it, it is portion controlled for me. After 8 years of being pregnant, nursing, or incessantly reaching for kid snacks in the passenger seat of my car, it was truly enlightening to be reminded of what a human, girl portion of food is again. I did a 1200 calorie plan and I'm not going to lie to you, by Thursday I was pretty damn hungry, so I would work with one of their incredibly positive and helpful team to design a realistic plan for yourself.
A great gift for someone you love. Even better if that person is you.
