KELLY MATTSON FOR WISPY, NATURAL, PRETTIEST LASH EXTENSIONS EVER

January 24, 2011

It’s no secret that I’m a lash extension junkie in the real sense of the word. And like junkies of another kind, I share many of the tell tale traits of an addict…it’s been a secret habit I simply can’t quit, it’s cost me thousands of dollars that I don’t have over the years and I’m always on the hunt for a better hit.

Which has brought me to the fabulous KELLY MATTSON

Kelly’s cut her teeth at some of the top lash bars in town before launching her own site and totally mobile service.

She hooked me up on a Friday night in my home with one of the bests sets I’ve ever had.  Unlike many of the lash experts out there, Kelly’s preferred look is uber-natural, wispy, thin and most of all not tacky, attention grabbing and over the top.

She uses super thin mink, varying the lengths for a look that doesn't scream - I'm wearing fake lashes!   I didn’t want that thick lash and va-va-voom curl where my lashes are touching my brows and fan out like Bambi. Or a drag queen.  Unless it’s for a special occasion, on me that just looks…stupid.  Not to mention, the heavy, thick lashes weigh on my eyes, itch, make me blinky and start to twist and curl after a week.

Of course Kelly can rock any look, and often that's exactly what most people want, thick, ultra-heavy and sexy.  But if you're like me, and looking for the ultimate beyond natural, not over the top look Kelly is the perfect aesthetician for you.  My new set is the lightest wispy-est that I've had in years.  I'm in LOVE!

She also does permanent make-up (yup, tattoo eyeliner, brows, etc) and will give you a little brow or lip wax while she's there.  She'll even throw on a collagen mask while she's making you lashy.

Mink set starts at $350.  Touch ups in your home $150.

I have a best male friend.  Yup, just like in the movies.  Shane Edelman. The perfect best guy pal ever.  Not only is he the coolest mutha in town for so many reasons, married to the wicked talented fashionista star maker, Natasha Silver of Community Service Showroom,  but I also kinda wish I WAS him.

Having established a name for himself in showbiz as an actor (in just about every movie and he played my hubby in Motherhoodlum, the web series I created, directed, wrote, etc) and a director, he's been seriously hunkering down with another one of his true talents, art and design.  A gifted and established painter and textile/fabric guru, he's turning his eye and hand to graphics and bringing his talent right to you.  You may have seen his logos on some clothing lines at Anthropologie or his Forever 21 tee-shirts.  I'm obsessed with my market bag that he designed for Rory Becca  (above) and it's my go-to bday prezzie gift.

Now he's kickin' out websites, invitations, logos, identities and branding and his shizzy kicks ass.

Check out his site for recent work even if you're not in the market.  Serious eye-candy!
