SkyTechSport Ski & Fit left us wanting for more!

December 24, 2012

Last weekend, I had the chance to hit SkyTech Sport located at 243 N. Robertson Blvd. in Beverly Hills SkyTechSport  Having tried everything from spinning, power pilates, boxing and aquatic boot camp (Bootcamp H20 OMG can we say hard?)
I was a bit cocky walking into SkyTech – ski simulator? I got this.  15
minutes into my workout I was in need of water, foot massage and cocktail (this never happens) .
I
came in on a Sunday afternoon.  The two simulators they have were in
use.  A group comprised of 2 women and 1 man were in session and loving
it.  I chatted with one of the women.  She told me her boyfriend is an avid skiier while she was just getting into it.  10 minutes later my ski boots were
snapped on and my turn was up.  Looking at the simulator I assessed "ok so it looks like I'll really activate my core and glutes".  Turns out a
lot of your power in skiing seems to come from your feet and maintaining equal
balance.  Maybe it's because I haven't set foot in ski boots since I was
12, maybe it's because this was an entirely different workout than I am
used to but midway through my first lesson I whimpering in need of a break.
The coaches at SkyTech are encouraging, supportive and guide you every step of the way.
A great party idea. SkyTech reps tell me they are booked consistently every weekend with birthday parties.

Warning!
Below are the technical aspects of SkyTech Sport. Not as sexy and
glamorous as we hope but we are smart chicks too.  We dig science, math
and cool stuff that also help to burn calories and make us sweat
To sum it up:   A
cutting edge alpine ski and snowboard simulator that allows users to
experience the same G-force effects they would in well-carved turns on a
real slope, is being introduced to the U.S. market.  Started in Europe
and developed by top physicists, applied mathematicians and computer
engineers, SkyTechSport’s simulator utilizes top notch computer
sequences, power drives, accurate sensors and virtual reality compounds
to create a fully realistic simulation of the slopes.  Providing a
professional training platform year round for everyone from beginners to
advance.
Four powerful motors
are responsible for the simulation of the physics and mechanics of
skiing, creating the G-forces alpine skiers experience on the real
slopes. Customers can choose your trails and adjust the snow conditions
to be “ideal” or complex, including hard-packed, soft or icy snow. It
can also generate bumps on the slope creating almost mogul-like terrain.
In addition, a powerful 3D engine and a three-unit
multimedia-projection generate a huge virtual image of a running slope covering 170 sq. feet!
The Deets:
The SkyTechSport ski and snowboard simulator is currently used at more
than 100 training locations worldwide in countries such as Germany,
Czech Republic, Poland, Russia and Greece.
SkyTechSport
ski and snowboard simulators are available for purchase or to rent. The
Los Angeles  location is at 243 N. Robertson Blvd, Beverly Hills.  A rep
told me they recently disassembled a simulator for a benefit party – it
was a hit and the kids loved it!  One of the attendees of the party
(who may or may not be a well known director who's works include:
Lincoln, War Horse and ET to name a few) was so impressed he has
enlisted private sessions for his kids.   Stop by SkyTechSport if you
are looking for a fun afternoon, interesting date idea (Patti StangerMillionaire Matchmakerwhere you at) an exhilarating workout or just a good ol' time.

Scientific Organics / Kombucha Cleanser

Extreme environmentalists beware: the word organic usually turns me off.  Organic skincare? Why? I want wrinkle fighting, under eye bag blasting, slimming, toning, hell if I could laser myself on a daily basis, I just might.  Needless to say I was less than excited when I received my green bottle of Scientific Organics Kombucha Cleanser.
Isn't Kombucha something to drink for digestion not foam up on my face?
Upon perusing the press release, my eyes fall on: Available at Miraval, Trump International, Wynn, Caesar's Palace and Carneros Inn.  Whoa, whoa wait one minute.  My eyebrows raise, I am interested.  Apparently that overpriced drink we guzzle down may work wonders for our skin too.
Upon further perusing of press release reveals:

**Kombucha: a fermented tea know for its many medicinal uses.  The fermentation yields a culture known as "scoby" which produces a range of organic acids like glucuronic acid, gluconic acid, lactic acid, acetic acid, butyric acid, malic acid and usnic acid.  It also produces vitamins B and C, as well as amino acids, and enzymes.  Benefits of kombucha in skincare include:
  • Hydrates and corrects the PH of the skin.
  • Minimizing visible signs of aging, tightens pores, diminishes fine lines and blemishes.
  • Natural sun shield.
  • Unsurpassed burn remedy.
  • Refines and balances irregular skin tones.
  • Effective in soothing skin ailments such as eczema, psoriasis, precarotosis, rashes, rosacea.
  • Naturally anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant.
  • Reduces swelling.
I read even MORE ingredients: grape stem cells, spirulina, goji berry, white and green tea, aloe vera, organic pine bark extract and the list goes on… More importantly this cleanser is affordable ($34 for 4 oz.) and left my skin clean, tight and feeling fresh. Never mind any resemblance to a hip hop track, my vote is YES!  Try this goodie.
Bonus feel good humanity points:  With every Scientific Organics retail sized item sold emerginC will plant a tree with Plant-It 2020, a non profit founded by the late singer John Denver (ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH=LOVE).

Ok, fine maybe I am a bit of a tree hugger after all.

Dry winter skin got you down? Check out SkinOwl!

December 23, 2012

One of my highlights of SpaPhile and Three Day Rule's recent Night of Beauty IV Night of Beauty was discovering Skinowl.

Amongst the hoardes of young women at this busy, buzzy Monday night event, lucky for me I found SkinOwl before leaving for the eve. Their
booth was busy. Without a chance to speak to any of the
reps so I threw their biz card in my back pocket and made a mental
note to get in touch with them during the week.  Mid week I was exchanging emails with Annie Tevelin – the founder of the line.  Annie couldnt have been more lovely and friendly.  Shortly therafter she sent me info on the lines as well as
samples to try.

Argan-infusion

I was hesitant to apply scented OIL to my sensitive skin. Vitamin E oil? No problem I will liberally apply to my skin, hair, and legs.  But argan infused oil and fragranced with lavendar, geranium and clary sage ? Without a doubt I would break out into a nasty case of hives. I did have an assignment on my hands however and I was curious what all the buzz was about.  One night
I did it – generously applied the Lavendar infusion, brushed my teet and prayed I wouldn't wake up in need of a cortisone shot. Low and behold I awoke to glowy, hydrated and refreshed skin.  I was hooked.

On the SkinOwl site Annie states " …This is a product where MORE is MORE. The more I
use, the more of a difference I see
in my skin, my cuticles, and hair. I choose to stick with a regimen
because the skin likes routine. I repeat, the skin likes routine."  The more I think on that, the more relevant it sounds to me.  My skin LIKES me when I cleanse, tone, treat, moisturize and protect.  It likes me when I am caring and gentle instead of harsh and abrasive.

Finally I love this quote "SkinOwl provides more than
just skin care; it’s a core component of total self-care too. It’s a
moment in your day when you get to stop and truly appreciate the
skin you’re in. Think about it this way: 3 minutes on your skin can
turn into 10 minutes in a bath tub, then 20 minutes reading a book
in a bath tub, and maybe that book is about Italy
, and you leap out
of the tub to book that flight to Italy
!As
professional and busy women and men on the go it seems we have lost the art of relaxation and self care.  To suggest spending time on our skin, bodies and diet suggests we are vain and selfish.  How many of us book a montly massage only to leave the massage, dart to our car, speed home, check emails and zap a tv dinner all to get enough shut eye to hit that spin class in the morning.  When are we truly able to turn it all off?   One of my resolutions goals, rather,  is to stay more present, slow down and appreciate the moment. I like that Annie implements this into her beauty philosophy as well.

At $30 bucks a vial, this stuff ain't cheap though worth every cent.  You will see recognizable differences in your skin within a short amount of time.

This is definitely a product line and woman to watch.

The Top 5 Essential Daily Supplements to get your year started on the right track!

December 22, 2012

Balance Chiropractic and Wellness Practitioners, explains how 5 essential daily supplements can make a positive contribution to your overall health. This small, yet significant addition to daily life is something that anyone can commit to—and stick to—for the New Year.

The Top 5 Essential Daily Supplements:

1) Probiotics- The truth about the Immune System is that over 80% of it is actually housed inside of our Digestive System, from the stomach all the way through the intestines, also known as the gut. Probiotics are the “good bacteria” to balance out the common abundance of bad bacteria in the gut. It can be good to look for a deal to try these out to begin with to see which one works best for you; some digging around and we found this PlanetOrganics Peptiva free trial offer as one example. This means you only need to pay for one Probiotic you know works for you.

Boosting the immune system isn’t the only benefit to Probiotics however. In addition to improving our Immunity, Probiotics are great for digestive symptoms (bloating, pain, constipation, diarrhea, etc.) and skin conditions (acne, rashes, psoriasis, eczema, dry skin).

2) Digestive Enzymes – When we cook/heat our food, we lose valuable enzymes that help the body break down our food and absorb the nutrients. Digestive Enzymes replace those lost enzymes, and assist the gut in functioning. Digestive Enzymes also help with symptoms such as: bloating, difficult digestion, heartburn, and constipation.

3) Fish Oil – Omega 3 oils (the “good” fats) provide great support to the brain, heart, and lower inflammation (think: arthritis and poor memory). The average American has too little Omega 3s and too many Omega 6s (which is the “bad” fat) due to poor food choices.

4) An Alkalizing Tablet, like “Alka Green” – The body’s pH basically describes what the chemical environment of our insides is like. It can be either acidic or alkaline, and this is determined by many factors (most notably the food we eat/drink and stress level). Americans are 70% acidic, but we need our body’s pH to be 70% alkaline to be healthy. How do we become more alkaline? Vegetables are alkaline, and most other foods (dairy, sugar, carbs, anything processed) are acidic. Alkalizing tablets bridge the gap. Why is alkalinity so important? Research as early as the 1930?s has shown conclusively that cancer CANNOT survive in an alkaline environment.

5) Goji Berries (dried and organic) – Chinese Medicine has been using foods as medicine for 5,000 years with success. What we put in our body can either work for us or against us. To make a long story short, many Americans have trouble with our Kidney Energetic Pathway in Chinese Medicine terms. This pathway has to do with our energy levels, low back pain, bags under the eyes, low immune system, and more. Snacking on a small amount of Goji Berry daily will strengthen and nourish our Kidney Pathway.

VAJACIAL – DID IT!! STRIPT WAX BAR

December 21, 2012

I promised a follow up about Stript Wax Bar's Vajacial once I experienced it.  Finally, I got my booty (and uh, vaj) back to the bar and oh what a vajacial it was.  I was trimmed, tweezed, plucked and masked to perfection. My vaj was glowing like a baby's butt!  This is called taking the ol' Brazilian to the next level.  I highly suggest it if you're feeling a bit dull down under or simply need a little extra winter polishing.  Don't worry about who you get, all the technicians are highly qualified and excellently trained.

Get your vaj glow on! What are you waiting for?

Even the best wax can leave you with some ingrown hairs and irritation, as well as discoloration, so we developed the Vajacial to really address and treat the key needs of anyone who gets waxed. We were committed to offering something unique and different, so we trademarked this service and our clients were really excited when we began offering it.

The Vajacial™, developed in 2010, is ideal for Brazilian waxing enthusiasts, those who need liberation from pesky ingrown hairs, or anyone just wanting a little freshening up. The Vajacial™ features a mask for your exact needs (anti-freckle, anti-acne or calming) and a lightening treatment to even you out, so it’s suitable for anyone.
