On the heels of a complete spa renovation, The Spa at Las Ventanas will unveil a fully transformed spa menu this April.
Featuring a full-range of new holistic therapies inspired by the rich history of Mexico, the eight new treatments were designed to restore energy and balance to the body, while quieting the mind, and bringing peace to the soul.
Here are highlights from the new menu:
The Path of the Shaman is a unique cleansing ritual performed by a Shaman healer in a private sanctuary within the spa that specially designed for this experience. The Shaman uses an herbal mixture called copal to purify and cleanse the body before massaging it with bamboo. The experience culminates in a warm herbal tea to soothe and protect the body and mind.
The Body and Mind Energy Restoration is inspired by ancient philosophies—Thai massage and personalized yoga instruction to relax your muscles, Shirodara to calm your mind and Reiki to balance your chakras. The restoring and energizing experience culminates in a satisfying lunch from La Cocina del Spa.
The Equilibrium Bamboo Massage uses bamboo trunks instead of hands to provide a deeper, firmer massage. This treatment, inspired by the stunning nature surrounding The Spa at Las Ventanas, also involves the ancient technique of equilibrium to activate the flow of energy throughout your body and invigorate your senses.
Situated between San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, the resort of Las Ventanas is located 20 minutes southwest of San Jose Del Cabo International Airport. At the southern tip of Mexico's Baja Peninsula, Los Cabos combines a starkly beautiful desert landscape with one of the richest marine environments encompassing both the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez. The latter is an underwater wonderland, teeming with diverse sea life. The desert is a mosaic of color and texture with forests of saguaro cactus, sand dunes and stunning rock formations. Los Cabos is Mexico's leading luxury vacation destination. Hollywood first discovered it in the post-World War II years when stars went down for the sport fishing and to relax in privacy on the beach. There is so much to do here and enjoy in the warm sun that shines year-round.

Infrared heating blankets. Lymphatic therapy. Par for the course at the recently opened Shape House on Larchmont. As a contributing beauty and wellness editor, I am committed to offering our readers economic products and services that actually work. Extra points when company owners have heart, soul and passion. Weight loss and its inevitable maintenance is the billion dollar question for men and women alike. Sweating, detoxification, elimination of our accumulated junk (food, stress, toxins, environmental waste) is an undeniable factor. Couple this with a clean approach of eating (protein, vegetables, cut the crap and drink WATER) will aid in weight loss. No one can argue this.
Shape House staff recommend lymphatic therapy for additional shaping, cleansing and detoxification. Lymphatic therapy is…of great support to the lymphatic system, which is in charge of our immune system. The lymphatic system carries bacteria, viruses, and even mutated cells away from healthy tissue and flushes it out of the body. When the lymphatic system is strung out or not flowing properly, bacteria and viruses sit in the body and don’t have a way out. The feeling is similar to the experience when you get your blood pressure measured at the doctor’s office. For your entire body. You slip into a suit that is connected to a device. It pressures and releases different parts of your body. I felt new agey and scientific, almost like I was doing an experiment on myself all while relaxing and dozing on and off.
Lymphatic therapy can:
Improve a sluggish colon Eliminate cellulite Assist your body in ridding itself of parasites Provide relief from asthma, earaches, edema, fibromya and many other diseases. Reduce menstruating cramps. Induce a deep relaxation and great sleep the following night.
Below a chart comparing infrared sweat to other activity:
Now for the cost…
1 infrared session = $45
1 Lymphatic session = $45

Personally, an infrared or lymphatic session seems equally healing as a massage and less expensive. Shape House also offers packages and monthly memberships. Take a break from everyday stress, anxiety and life. Take an hour or two out and treat yourself to a well deserved sweat

The skin is the body’s largest organ – so it needs to be fed properly, rested, hydrated and nourished on a daily basis in order to get ! that “glow” and make it last.
These 10 easy tips from Jolie Kobrinsky, expert trainer and co-founder of online, holistic fitness and wellness program The Prime Method, have an instant pay off: In one week, you will notice a visible difference in the glow, tone and texture of your skin. But if you incorporate them into your lifestyle and follow them long-term, they will have far-reaching benefits for your overall health as well.
HYDRATE WITH WATER: Drink 8 glasses (64oz) of water a day.
DRINK AN “ANTIOXITINI”: Drink an “Antioxitini,” a.k.a. Green Smoothie, every day to get more fruits and vegies into your daily diet. Combating tired, dull skin is as simple as upping your intake of fruits and veggies. Studies show eating a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables makes you more attractive. There's no real downside to a produce-heavy diet – so this is just one more reason to eat more servings of fruits and vegetables, and it’s easy to get a higher total by drinking smoothies.
DRY BRUSH: In addition to sloughing away dry skin on areas like knees, elbows and ankles, dry brushing your body promotes tighter skin, cell renewal and b! lood flow. This also helps the lymphatic system release toxins and aids in digestion and kidney function. It is one of the easiest, cheapest and most effective things we can do for promoting healthy skin.
TRY A HOMEMADE FACIAL: There are plenty of options when it comes to selecting a homemade facial. Here is one I highly recommend and use myself: To make this refreshing mask, you need a half of ripe papaya, skinned and seeded. Mix together thoroughly and apply it to your face (avoid eyes and lips). Leave it on for 20 minutes and wash off with warm water. Why do I use these ingredients?
Papaya: Papaya is known as a strong exfoliating agent
Egg Whites: Egg Whites help in toning the skin
Honey: Honey helps in moisturizing the skin.
GET YOUR FILL OF OMEGAS: When possible, try to get omega-3 fatty acids from foods rather than supplements. Fish that are high in DHA and EPA omega-3 fatty acids include: Anchovies, bluefish, herring, mackerel, salmon (wild has more omega-3s than farmed), sardines, sturgeon, lake trout, and tuna. Many experts recommend eating these fish two to three times a week.
SWEAT IT OUT: Exercise to a full sweat. Sweating is your body's way of helping to keep your skin clean. By sweating out accumulated toxins, your skin stays cleaner and, over time, will appear healthier than ever!
BREATHE: Stress dries out the skin and can cause breakouts. Focus on deep breathingto relieve stress and the negative side-effects it can have on your skin.
HIT THE STEAM ROOM: A steam will loosen debris in your skin, unclog your pores and give your face a deep cleaning. You will have healthier, softer and more glowing skin!
LAUGH: When you laugh, your facialmuscles and your abdominal muscles get a work out! Most people ignore the facial muscles when they work out and stretch, but laughter is a fun and simple way to improve blood flow to the face. Having improved blood flow and movement in the face will add a healthy-lookingradiance to the facial skin, which will improve the tone of your skin.
GET SOME SLEEP: Sleep allows the skin to restore its natural balance and increases the effectiveness of certain skin care ingredients, potentially providing more benefit to your skin. When you do not get enough sleep, your skin will show it – trust me!
