As you are reading this, I know your nose is running…

All of us struggle with the common cold – we catch it, get over it but can’t get away from it.  Whether you are surrounded by sneezing, coughing and running noses in your home, at work or simply out in public – you need to protect yourself!

Yogi Cameron, former super model turned Ayurvedic healer and yoga master, stars in Model Guru on Veria Living TV network, and has quick and easy remedies to heal your common cold throughout the upcoming flu season.

Inhalation Therapy – ancient old trick of expelling mucus from the chest region

Steps:

  • Boil a pot of water
  • Add 3-4 drops of camphor oil
  • Put a towel over your head
  • Place your head over the pot and inhale

Coconut Oil & Peppermint Oil – to keep the nasal passages open

Steps:

  • Mix coconut oil with peppermint oil in the palm of your hand
  • Rub it inside your nose

*Peppermint Oil is sharp and hot, so it helps break down the sinus congestion

Healing Lemon Drink

Steps:

  • ½ cup warm water
  • ½ lemon
  • Mix in 1 teaspoon of honey

*You can have this drink several times a day but don’t drink it with meals

Yoga Postures

  • Shoulder stand – helps to open the muscles in the neck, and as it’s an inversion, it helps to drain all of the mucus out of the nostrils and chest area (instructions on how to form the pose are in the provided video segment).

*Make sure to get plenty of rest for the mind and the body.

Benjamin Mohapi and Negin Zand Announce the Grand Opening of BENJAMIN with NEGIN ZAND

2013_11_SALON_BENJAMN-20 2013_11_SALON_BENJAMN-34_2

Last week Benjamin Mohapi and Negin Zand celebrated the re-launch and expansion of the celebloved spot BENJAMIN with NEGIN ZAND (formerly Salon Benjamin) in the chic hood of upper Melrose.

The 3,000 sq. ft boasts 24 chairs, and is a decor fantatics dream. The feel is of a 17th century librarian's hangout, private home or "salon" where people congregate to be creative, share intellectual ideas and influence culture.

Also on board in the redux salon, a fully stocked shop, Selects, natural and organic beauty brands from around the globe, the salon's 500-square-foot shop offers hair products, skincare, bath goods and more—all hand-picked by head stylist Benjamin Mohapi and boutique manager Genavieve Lynch.

The salon's new mantra: attainable, everyday style.

"Having been in LA for a couple years, we realized that what clients really want is hair that is modern, natural, and easy to maintain. Our focus is more on hair quality and simple shapes," they tell us. "This a brand for real people with real hair."

But it's all about the talent.

British born Benjamin Mohapi arrived in London as a teenager. Having worked in the UK’s top salons as a stylist, including the salons of John Frieda, Nicky Clarke, and Daniel Galvin, he began his move into the world of fashion assisting the biggest names in the industry and developing his own creative vision. By the age of 22 Mohapi had left the salon and was spending all his time on set as a session stylist where he quickly established himself in the fashion and entertainment industries. Having traveled the world extensively working on a variety of exciting, artistic, and creative projects his resume had grown to include photographers Rankin, David LaChapelle, and the late Herb Ritts. He also worked on editorial and fashion projects for Vogue, ID, Nylon, GQ, Marie Claire, and many more. All of these experiences went into creating a London based hair, beauty, and styling agency which Mohapi founded and had in operation for almost 10 years.

In 2012, Mohapi opened the BENJAMIN salon and 2013 he was joined by master colorist Negin Zand. The roster at the BENJAMIN salon reads like a who’s who in the LA hair world. Mohapi has pulled together an extraordinary amount of talent under one roof and in doing so is changing the Los Angeles hairdressing landscape. His goal is simply to elevate standards and expectations, to move away from cheap celebrity and to focus on the craft of great hairdressing. The Salon is inviting and charming with a sophisticated style and aesthetic that creates an ambiance that truly reflects Mohapi’s personality. It is both ultra-luxurious and incredibly relaxed. Garnering a phenomenal amount of online and print credit from a variety of celebrity clientele and style influencers the BENJAMIN salon has received accolades from outlets such as Vanity Fair, Allure,

Colorist Negin Zand was born in Iran and spent much of her life living in both Sydney and Los Angeles. She began her career in Australia, where she first realized her interest for color development. In 1991, she relocated to Los Angeles to fortify her talent for capturing the natural effect of sunlight upon hair. Negin was accepted into famed hairdresser Christophe’s salon in Beverly Hills.

Indicative of her natural approach to beauty, Negin utilizes the technique of Baliage, an ancient French hair coloring method that emphasizes sweeping motions and a free-form style of highlighting the hair. Her unique approach and speed (highlights can take 15 minutes or less) has made her a favorite among such A-list celebrities as Madonna, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Kate Hudson, Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett, Scarlett Johansson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Bosworth, Jennifer Aniston, Meg Ryan, Miley Cyrus, Rachel McAdams, Faith Hill, Sheryl Crow, Megan Fox, and Jessica Chastain. Her work has been featured in illustrious fashion and beauty magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, W, and Allure, while advertising clients such as Pantene, Revlon and L’Oréal rely on her for their top campaigns.

Sexiest swimwear (and then some) on the block: indieSWIM!

November 16, 2013

I never thought I'd become OBSESSED with a….swimwear line.

…But, after finally getting in one after years of intenese fear and hiding out, I had an incedibly liberating summer lounging and sunning by the pool for the first time in a decade.  Seriously, my kids had never seen me in a pool, let alone in a bathing suit.

After my bikini awakening, I went to Old Navy, spent $30 and bought around 30 bikini separates.  It was after all, September by the time I came around and every picked-ill-fitting piece was around 99 cents.  I'll probably never wear a single piece.  I was just so excited to know that I wasn't going to die if I wore a bathing suit in public, I couldn't help myself.

So now, I am all about finding the perfect suits for next season.  Which in LA is around next week.

This line, indieSWIM is freaking my shit out. Just looking at these suits might have me eating turkey and veggies and that's IT, for Thanksgiving. I'm drooling. Mostly at the suits and another good percentage is body envy drool but whatever it's motivating.

WHAT:  indieSWIM is the result of a natural and brilliant collaboration between friends Zoe and Rosanna. These Caribbean babes share mutual loves for sea, sand and style. They found a way to artistically express themselves and their passions through a beautiful line of swimwear.

The styles, patterns, and colors all come together beautifully to leave you with a work of art, rather than swimsuit. indieSWIM gives you subtle sex appeal, while keeping things bright, relaxed, and simply fun.

Prices range $50 and up for tops and bottoms sold separately. You can mix and match like crazy.
