Fave kid’s bed of 2011. Sobu’s new Junk in the Trunk Bed

My friend, graphic designer/photographer Laleh and her hubby, furniture designer Alessandro have two adorable kids.  Now they've come together to create another baby, this one, a cool-ass kid's furniture company.

SOBU.

They set out to create limited, exclusive furniture designs that are well-crafted and accessible.  Clearly, they're accomplishing this with their first design.

The Junk in the Trunk Bed.

And only a parent (with a wicked design sense) could come up with a space saving, ever-so-brill-debut offering,  taking under-the-bed-storage to thoroughly modern heights.

The bed's frame is upholstered in soft ivory fabric with modern orange piping. It's a perfect bed for small spaces or for kids who might need a place to store extra treasures.  Or in the case of my 5 year old, ten thousand treasures.  Also known as junk-mom-likes-to-throw-out-when-you're-at-school.

Available for $650 at Sobu.

And coming up soon is going to be a queen version of the same in a beautiful dark gray, felt like material with light gray piping.  Ooh.  Mama likes.
