Hospitals suck. I should know. Caught a nasty staph infection in one 6 years ago during hip replacement surgery. So when I had surgery recently I chose to have it done in a crispy clean private surgery suite and made sure I was going to recover in a non-hospital (germ infested) environment – which basically gives me more anxiety than the thought of being covered in roaches. There are a few of these high end recovery spots in town but when I heard about Rose, and her one on one MAJESTIC RECOVERY, I knew this was the one for me.
Majestic Recovery offers a private, one on one full time, 24 hour-a-day nurse, who sleeps in your (gorgeous) boutique hotel room with you and tends to you like a mama bear on steroids. Rose, whom I have nick-named and is now stored in my cell phone as "Rose The Angel" picks you up from surgery, whisks you (in a bad-ass Mercedes) to the darling Angelo Hotel and takes care of your every minute to minute recovery needs in a way that no hospital staff, hubby or mother-in-law could ever do. Surgery sucks and the hardest part is recovering. Rose will get you through the toughest part – post anesthesia – which is so gross that I'll spare you the deets here – and get you to the other side with attentiveness and TLC that you cannot imagine. The next day she will drive you back to your doctor for follow up and then home. Or back to the hotel for as many more nights as you need. The only problem is you WILL NOT WANT TO LEAVE. When I learned that double hernia repair means you simply cannot move one inch without feeling as though you've been impaled by ten bulls, I ended up staying three nights in her care instead of my intended one. Rose was able to accommodate my change of plans, no prob.
This kind of specialty does not come cheap. A queen bed is $795 per night and $925 for a king. But as far as I am concerned you simply cannot put a price tag on top-notch, professional, nurse-driven post-op care. It is the singular most important part of the journey to the other side of any operation. If you have surgery of any kind, elective or non-elective, first of all I feel for you as it SUCKS, but second of all I am going to tell you to try and find a way to figure this into your budget ahead of time. I'm here to tell you that it will undoubtedly make all the difference, 150 %.
