PRODUCT OBSESSION – CARITA PARIS – FLUIDE DE BEAUTE 14 PAILLETE

May 31, 2010

This. Is. Beautiful.

I'm a gold-sparkle AND dry oil junkie and this super elegante ultra nourishing dry oil is a product that is hand tailored for me.  You can dab it everywhere to soften, smooth and protect against drying: face, body, hair.  The tiny golden pearls illuminate you every so slightly.  In other words, this is a not a gold-shimmer-stripper look.  It's Hotel Du Cap not Hooters.  And the smell is all other-worldly exotic yumminess: lemon, bergamot, orange, verbena, musk and Lil of The Valley. Mmm…

1.69 oz. is $45.00

PRODUCT OBSESSION – CHANEL’S TEMPORARY SKIN ART “LES TROMPE-L’OEIL DE CHANEL”

May 10, 2010

I'm not into logos and I certainly do not have the legs for the garter designs here, but holy crap, conceptually CHANEL'S LES TROMPE L'OEIL SKIN ART is frickin' brill.

It's serious art if you ask me.  It's also the first time I have written about something without trying it first, but I was so taken with the look of it all, I just got mad-posting-fever.

For $75 you get:

Fifty-five exclusive temporary tattoos in all, originally hand-drawn by Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, for the Spring-Summer 2010 Fashion Show in Paris. Artful images of CHANEL symbols and icons, including Oriental cherry blossoms and birds, can be mixed and matched for unlimited effects.

Feels like a pretty good deal to me – tattoo necklaces, bracelets, anklets, birds – and seems like just a super cool way to jazz up anything.

Here are some of my fave pics:

PRODUCT OBSESSION – BEAUTISOL SELF TANNERS

May 6, 2010

Why is it that all self-tanners – the countless bottles, sprays and tubes of brown lube I've wreslteld with just to get my glow on over the years – really just, well, suck?

Is it the stinky smell, the orange streakiness, the patchy fading style that has me running for a custom spray tan every time I want just a little bronze-y touch up, which let's face it folks, isn't the most economical way to go?  But it's either that or look like I have a strange skin condition.

Then I finally got my gloved hands on the long awaited debut of the top rated dark tanning lotion  SUMMER GLOW FROM BEAUTISOL (formerly Antidote Skin Care) - which also comes in All Season's Glow for gradual to medium self-tanning.

And let me tell you, I am a very, very happy ever-so-slightly-but-oh-so-naturally sun-kissed mama. HOORAY!

It smoothed on without a hitch, smelling terrific along the way, developing slowly and the effect is a day hanging out in the sun in the Spring.  It's not an over-the-top obviously fake tan.  It looks really, well, REAL.

I'm totally sold. LOVIN IT!

Beautisol offers a bunch of other goodies to make your journey into satisfying self-tanning nice and smooth: Exfoliators, Accessories, Beauty Kits, Wedding Packages and even a CLUB SOL that you can join for discounts, free shipping and lots of other goodies.

Here's a bit about the technology below.

Summer Glow™ is a pasty person’s answer to a deep, dark tan without the sun. The best part is, it doesn’t smell funky while the color is developing! Our innovative SMELL RIGHT fragrance technology actually encapsulates the unpleasant processing odor by up to 80%. A dark guide color provides you with an immediate bronzing effect and also allows you to see exactly where you applied the product and where you missed, greatly reducing any potential streaking or application mishaps.

This luxurious self-tanning lotion is paraben-free and packed with powerful antioxidants and anti-aging ingredients that help nourish and hydrate the skin. Summer Glow™ is recommended for all skin colors and tones as it highlights and blends with your own skin’s pigment. Yes, even the fairest of redheads can use this product!

ALSO, the products are paraben-free and PETA certified which is exciting!

Shoes, shoes, shoes…Yes, you heard me! Check these out from Chinese Laundry.

April 21, 2010

A first here on Groomed L.A.  SHOES!  Yup, after spending a week hopping on and off Target.com awaiting the debut of the coveted Cynthia Vincent for Target line (so blech and cheapie looking when I finally got a good look at them that I'm not even posting a link… maybe the multi-color ballet flats are cute) I realized, wow, that's a lot of beauty blogging hours I've spent in search of a pair of budget pups.  And that's when I realized, you're never fully groomed until you have that great pair of shoes on!  Hence Groomed L.A. is stretching it's wings to include shoes and of course that might even mean…bags too. Whoo-hoo! That is the complete package from head to toes right?  So stay tuned for that.  But for now, I'm excited to share with you these two pairs of amazing wedges I just went ga-ga for.

I was walking on West Third Street the other day and popped into Polka-dots and Moonbeams and saw a pair of super budget ($49!), super cute Chinese Laundry Fuschia summery wedge sandals which looked so sexy on my feet and were so totally comfy, but the only prob was that the last pair in my size had a pen mark on them. Grunt!

So I went home, hopped on the CHINESE LAUNDRY website and started poking around. Remember this brand from days gone by?  Time for a refresher course!  Fishing though the site I fell in love with more than one pair of shoes. Check out these SHANTEL sandals.  I am all about budget everything right now and cute shoes for under a hundred dollars are so up my alley I can't even tell you.

These are the two pairs I got.  The only problem was, what color to get the DRESDEN in?!   I chose the purple but now I'm thinking I should have gone for the Desert Ivy.  Then again, for $100, I might just spring for both!

I also went summer slap happy for the INONIA in Fuschia.
