Vegan Fashion Must-Haves This Winter

November 21, 2016

There is something about wearing natural materials that makes your look feel a little more luxe. Whether you’re bundled up in fur or sporting some warm wool, having a naturally inspired garment can instantly amp up the luxury factor of your outfit. Especially when it comes to wintertime, there is perhaps no better season for calling upon the cozy confines of a natural fabric to keep you from freezing.

There are all kinds of natural fabrics (and faux alternatives) for the winter season that not only serve a functional purpose but also add a dash of fashion to the mix. Because why bother wearing something if it doesn’t look good? We gathered some of the best natural garments to sprinkle into your winter wardrobe if you are ready to luxe it up and stay toasty.

  1. Fur Vest

Vests are a great way to preserve your body heat without the hassle of a big, bulky jacket. For a stylish upgrade on a traditional vest, a fur vest is definitely the way to go. There are plenty of ways to rock a fur vest, so we like to go through one slideshow from Style Bistro for some fresh styling ideas. One of our favorite things about fur vests is that they act as neutrals and are very versatile.

  1. Wool Coat

A wool coat is a winter staple, but here in LA, it might not seem as necessary as it is in, say, Canada. However, don’t let the weather deter you from adding this super luxe item to your closet! We found a men’s half-sleeved wool overcoat at this LA-based brand’s page on Lyst that cuts back on the warmth a bit and brings the heat in terms of style. It’s the perfect in-between piece.

  1. Leather Moto Jacket

Does anything look cooler than a sleek, black leather jacket? We’re going to vote ‘no.’ There’s just something so inherently cool about leather moto jackets that makes this article an absolute must for anyone wanting to up their fashion game.

  1. Shearling

The final natural material we’re spotlighting is the hippie-chic shearling coat (or vest). Shearling has made a recent fashion comeback from its heyday back in the ’60s and ’70s, and designers are offering all kinds of modern twists on the classic favorite. Plenty of variations on the trend are highlighted by a Huffington Post article, where you’re sure to find a look that fits your personal style.

Remember, if you’re not a fan of wearing the real thing, there are plenty of faux options that provide the same amount of style. Whether or not the faux options will be as warm as the real materials is a toss-up, so be sure to test out your alternatives to make sure they meet your winter needs. All you need is a garment that looks like the natural material to create a vision of luxury—whether or not that material is the real deal is entirely up to you.

Can a Diamond Engagement Ring Go Through an Evolution? YES!

September 27, 2016

Like all other types of fashion, diamond engagement rings have definitely gone through many changes over the years, particularly over the last century. People are more fussy over engagement rings nowadays than they have been ever. People are even looking for ethical engagement rings, which you can find on Vanessa Nicole’s ring site, and this is just one example of rings people are looking for.

Check out how these rings have evolved and then check out ascotdiamonds.com so you can find the perfect engagement ring that will inspire your love to say yes without hesitation.

The Early 1900s

At the start of the 20th century, engagement rings featuring solitaire diamonds of a rather small size were often set in bands that featured yellow gold. The band was plain, so the diamond was the center of attention.

By the 1920s, European cut diamonds that appeared regal and distinct became popular and started dominating the engagement ring market. The clusters of diamonds were hard to resist. That is, until the 1930s, when oval shaped diamonds took over.

The Middle of the 1900s

Once the 1940s rolled around, engagement ring styles were changing yet again. This time, they started to look quite a bit like those high school class rings that students receive before they graduate. These rings would feature a round diamond in the center, but that stone would then have smaller diamonds to its right and left side.

In the 1950s, there was more focus on the gold bands themselves. They became as prominent as the diamond, so plain settings were no longer as popular. Bands that were filled with intricate designs were often seen, and diamonds remained round.

During the 1960s, engagement rings became sleek and simple again. Minimalist bands featuring emerald cut diamonds were in vogue, and the diamond took center stage again.

The Late 1900s

In the 1970s, those showy gold bands returned (try to keep up!). Also, the rings themselves were covered in diamonds that varied in size and shape, along with a solitaire in the middle. So, for example, you might have a bright gold band, a round solitaire at the center, and square diamonds lining the lower part of the band, along with rectangular diamonds on either side of the solitaire. Adding some colored gems was also popular in that decade.

By the 1980s, women were still donning engagement rings featuring solitaire diamonds. And in the last decade of the 20th century, the princess cut came into prominence. This cut was paired with a couple of triangular gems alongside it.

The 21st Century

The 2000s maintained the popularity of the princess cut, but it was simplified. Silver bands littered in diamonds also became popular. Other cuts, such as the marquise, grew in popularity again, thanks to its vintage vibe. And colored diamonds and rose gold are hugely popular today as well, along with halo diamonds.

These different engagement ring designs are still considered beautiful today and are still accessible as Jacobs The Jeweller reports through their website. Many gorgeous engagement rings can be found on this site that, despite the evolution through time, will have the perfect one for you.

When you look back in time, it is clear that the jewelry industry has evolved quite a bit, especially when it comes to diamond engagement rings. It will definitely be interesting to see where the new trends will take everyone, but in the meantime, you can choose a modern and trendy ring or one inspired by a trend from years long gone.

Zenni Optical Eyewear

I am currently rocking the roundy-round Laurel version (below) and what I love about them is not only are they only $32 (cheaper than the crappy ones at those kiosks at The Grove) but that they are not those overly dark lenses that I end up taking off because I can’t see anything! They are so lightweight – I forget I am even wearing them!

Laurel

But what got me excited is the fun LA line:

Pop over to their site to check them out. They make ordering really specific so you can take all your measurements and get the right fit!

They also make a rockin kids line too!
