I hit the mother lode of experiences people. Us beauty and health writers are privileged with the opportunity to sample the best treatments in town. Other than the usual yummy spa treatments (the hammam at the Argyle Hotel Spa and my total obsession with Shape House) I’ve been a bit jaded – ya know, the been there done that thing.
Not anymore. Last night I hit the jackpot. I had a soul and senses two hour tune-up session with sound healer, deep meditation guide, chakra-chiropractor and soul-awakening master shaman, Antony Galvan.
I am still reeling and thinking about my experience this morning. Yes, a massage feels amazing but this experience is like a massage for the soul, senses, the heart, the chakras. Can’t beat that one.
Antony has been my neighbor for years and I’ve watched him come and go on his bike and always marveled at his insanely strong bod (oh yah, he’s been a pro, medal wearing, cyclist for years) and awesome, open, chill vibes.
But it wasn’t until I was in the chair of another master, hair colorist Deanna Beavers at the Benjamin Salon when she said, “omg, you live next to my healer, Antony” that I said “huh?!! I NEED A HEALER!”
That was all I needed. I was off to the races.
I tracked Antony down in between his teaching yoga and training clients (wasn’t hard, we live 25 feet from each other) and he sent me to his website (http://www.athunderoussilence.com). Wow. This aint yo mama’s hotel spa. And you’ll be thanking your chakras for that too.
Antony has created and hand-crafted one of the most unique body/ mind/ soul therapies and treatment rooms I have come across in years. Honestly, I just want to say GO – and leave it at that. We all know how therapeutic color healing can be. Well, imagine that, times 100.
In short, after an ‘in-take’ in his cozy temple (apartment) where he talks about his work, and the various levels of deep guided meditation he can take you on, you proceed to his candle lit treatment room. There, after some blessings with various herbs and sages straight from the source (rain forests, pacific northwest, etc.) you melt into a hammock, draped in a Himalayan silk chakra scarf, holding crystals and from there, he takes you on your personalized sound and sense journey. Beneath you he sits, guided by his own higher self. It’s there where the sound journey begins as he plays crystal bowls, deep, resonating drums, tuning forks, Tibetan bowls and more, right into your ears and around your body. The lights around you change as he moves you through your personalized chakra tune up. A misting of essential oils fills the air.
