Tara finally jumps on the lash bandwagon and tries LuxLash in Bev Hills.

LuxLash, coined as the nation’s first specialty lash and brow spa, is the ultimate destination for brow shaping, eye brightening and the spas signature treatment, lash extensions.

Located across from Sprinkles in Bevy Hills, the LuxLash spa is clean and bright, with a welcoming staff of the lash technicians, all uniquely qualified, with over 100 hours of lash training.

After picking my desired lash length and fullness, single strands of lightweight synthetic eyelashes were applied one lash at a time to my own lashes. The process roughly took 90 minutes, to apply some 120 lashes.  But relaxing under my warm blanket while listening to the tunes of Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, the minutes slipped away. And when I opened my eyes I was completely amazed. Long, thick beautiful, natural looking lashes.

Lash extensions generally last 2 months depending on proper care and lash growth. And maintenance is a snap. Plus no more applying mascara, curling lashes or using lotions. Oh, my!

I was so ecstatic – I cheerfully floated to the reception desk and made an appointment for my complementary one week follow up.  This touch-up appointment gives clients a week to decide if they want to add more length or thickness.  I admit I loved my look so much, I just added a little more fullness and was ready to bat my new lashes under the mistletoe.

Yo!!

So many awesome things on the horizon for Groomed L.A. this year.  Major expansions well beyond the world of skin-deep beauty.  I'm talking home beauty, interiors/architecture/design, food, art, etc.  The Beautiful Life is abundant!  And our mission is to share a little of this beauty with you every day.   🙂

That being said, we will always be super on top of the best of the best of all things to make you feel and look beautiful in L.A.

And so I bring you, Vanessa Spaeth, wicked brill colorist at my all time fave salon Andy LeCompte (talk about visually stunning – it's a pitch perfect match to design aesthetic).

An L.A. native, she's been banging out the "beachy highlight summer surfin' in the 'Bu" look since she was 18.  But getting your sun-kissed glow on is just the beginning. Vanessa is a master color corrector (got effed up color?…she's your woman).  The celeb set has been known to line up for her to tone down their over-processed tresses and bring the gloss back.  She's a master with brunettes.  Seriously, my rich brown mane has more depth than Avitar in 3-D.   She's got a fierce eye for color and skin tone and basically, I'd say, don't say anything.  As in, she's the kind of colorist whose chair you just plop in and say, "go to town."

Rae Cosmetics – Flawless skin, sunscreen and jammed with vitamins and anti-oxidants all in one.

This town is filled with multi-hyphenates.  Actress/model/bottle hostess. Writer/producer/interior designer.  It only makes sense that a high impact beauty product better be rocking at least two to three slashes to make it in L.A.

A major beauty obsesh of mine is the combo foundation/moisturizer/sunblock.   If I can knock smooth, flawless coverage, moist skin and a wicked sunscreen in one product, then it gets the starring role.   While I'm gaga over products, I'm into super simplicity and a mayyjorrlly low maintenance routine.  I have more tubes then you can imagine crowding my bathroom.  I want less, not more.

RAE COSMETICS, created by make-up artist Rochelle Rae nails this and then some with her Climate Control SPF 20 Mineral Tint ($39).   Not only am I covered in the sunblock department with some serious SPF 20 – but the foundation coverage is SICK!   It's not thick and goopy like most of these double duty foundation/suncreen posers.  It's light, it moves, it glows.  It's a fricken wonderland of luminescent creaminess that doesn't sit on the skin but rather is absorbed by it, becoming the ultimate moisturizer and skin perfector.  Fresh, clean, light and flawless.  Uh, helllooo!!

It's water-based, non-chemical and rocks antioxidants all-in-one.

Oh and check this out: It's water-resistant.  It stays on all day, even when you sweat.

Hypo-allergenic, oil, fragrance and talc free, it's made from a micro-crushed blend of minerals, pigments and potent anti-oxidants form crystals that overlap on skin, forming a barrier that protects from free radicals, pollutants and sun damage, while allowing the skin to breathe and function normally, as if wearing nothing at all.  Ahhh….

Kayla gets her uber-glam on without looking like a prom queen with the Luxe Beauty Team at Warren Tricomi

As a working mom of toddler twins, my daily beauty routine is down to a pathetic minimum– last time I checked, my kids were using my powder brush to "paint" the toilet.   So when I was recently invited to a big-time Hollywood wedding  (Heidi Klum was maid of honor!), I knew I needed professional help, a body-double or, let's be honest, a miracle.

Only here's the thing: I've got professional-makeup-application-a-phobia.  In the past, I've ended up looking like a prom queen or worse, a drag queen.  At department stores, I've gotten my face done for free… then ended up with a bag-full of expensive products I never use.  

Thankfully, Luxe Beauty Team came to the rescue.   In a mere hour, makeup artists Sarah and Amy worked some serious magic on my face and my psyche.  My look was chic, fresh and sophisticated — no prom-like glitter, tranny lashes or terrifying beauty pageant spackle.  Instead, they applied oh-so-subtle temporary lash extensions, smudgy kohl eyeliner, a light foundation, the perfect berry lip stain.   They use products from a wide variety of makeup lines so I had endless choices but with no pressure to buy (though I did end up with a life-changing lipstick and some extremely cool bracelets — did I mention they sell jewelry?)
