Nu Me “WET & DRY” Styling Iron. A brilliant 2 for 1!

April 13, 2011

Toys, toys and more toys coming up for you on Groomed L.A.

All good things to make your life easier and more beautiful.

First up:

 Nume-wet-to-dry2

NU ME

WET & DRY $225

WHAT :: Take your wet hair, dry AND straighten it in one swoop.

Now this is a tool that makes mommy happy.

My Brazilian has totally washed out.

My mane is a frizz-ball/Jew-fro/post-pregnancy-hair-loss extragevaganza.

I haven't had time to get a BB.

This is a perfect in-betweener.

I took my slop of a damp mess and it was dry and sleek in no time.

If you're going to spend on a good dryer and straightener, this is the perfect way to go.

MAD LOVE.

(Here's the official shpiel)

NuMe's newest and most exciting iron actually allows you to style when hair is still damp, no blow drying required. With precision engineered 1 ¾ inch floating plates, this new safe-for-damp-hair system releases moisture through special steam vents, evaporating excess water without drying out hair. Get supremely straight hair while getting gorgeous glossier results in an effortless pass. Best for curly hair.

The NuMe Wet & Dry Professional Styling Iron uses a unique alignment system that ensures ideal contact between your hair and our tech-tourmaline ceramic plates. Our ceramic plates emit negative ions which seal the hair cuticle for quicker, smoother results. Our perfected ceramic-tourmaline blend creates an even and gentle infrared heat that safely removes moisture releasing it through steam vents. The Wet & Dry will help you create your perfect hair profile without the damaging heat of a blow dryer or a hefty blowout bill. Now you can style wet or dry in less time with fewer products and no wear and tear.

Dani gets Wella-fied at C The Salon on Ventura Blvd.

April 4, 2011

Pinch me, a luxury hair experience at an affordable price is now available in Studio City at C Salon. I just left there and can’t stop staring at my new fab look. Owner Claudio Lazo and his warm, can’t-do-enough-for-you staff are super excited about the new Wella Hair Coloring system.

Waiting for the timer to ding, Claudio explained in passionate detail Wella’s new coloring products that have “diamond dust” for shine and create a triple-bonding process with the hair follicle so your hair looks shiny and fresh for a solid six weeks, instead of great for one and then in a dull holding pattern until you can make it back to the salon. Then again with a staff as welcoming as the people at C Salon, all promoted from within, there’s no reason not to back often.

I left there with color that looks lush and kissed with some subtle highlights just right for those of us who aren’t KE$HA.

According to the charismatic Lazo, Wella color company got a revamping from Procter and Gamble, and starting April 4th it’s game on for customers wanting the most luxurious hair products available in salons at an affordable price.

“Accessible luxury,” is how they are selling it, and as soon as I stop running my hands through my incredibly silky hair, I’m buying it. I walked out feeling refreshed, loved, and armed to keep my hair upgrade in tact with Wella’s Brilliance line of shampoo and conditioner. And at $14 each, I had money left for a large frozen yogurt two doors down at Studio City Yogurt, which I licked like a sexy super model. Until it was time pick up my son at the bus.

Single process starts at $65
Highlights at $100

Bigger is Better at Le Posh Spa l Salon l Lounge

2_Lounge 11_Treatment

There's a new spa in town.  I'd like to call this doozey, a MEGA SPA.

LE POSH SPA SALON LOUNGE

(dj included)

This place is massive.  And beautiful.  And massive.  Did I say that?  A one-stop-urban escape-shop right on Sunset blvd.

They've got it all going on.  And when I say all I mean: a 5 star service on mani/pedis (kids too!)/wax/massage, body therapy/extensive menu of exclusive high-end body treatments, facials, peels/men's grooming/hair cuts, color, treatments/boutique and YOGA CLASSES!

To make things as luxurious as possible, pull right up to the complimentary valet parking and toast your day off with a free glass champagne upon check in.   And there's a private VIP-treatment suite for those days when you have to cut loose from the paparazzi that's been hanging on your tail all day.  One room is called the Vichy room, sporting an overhead 14-head shower with Hydrotherapy jets that can be custom blended with aromatherapy oils to rain on you during your body treatment to improve circulation and amp up your mind/body relaxation experience.

The treatment rooms are exquisite.  The spa design is Zen minimal/modern opulence/luxe (DJ booth included), all orange, white and wood with Birch tree-theme running throughout.

I tried the Le Posh Signature Seaweed Birch Wrap ($140) – a dry brush exfoliation followed by a seaweed birch infused wrap, warm blanket wrap and beyond divine deep massage top off.  The spa uses the  state of the art Biologique Recherche product line in all their treatments and I was drenched in their body moisturizer from head to toe afterwards.  My therapist was incredible. Strong, knowledgeable and right on point.

Serge Normant – Meta Metamorphisis Hair Repair Treatment

March 30, 2011

Barneys says: Serge Normant Meta Morphosis Hair Repair Treatment $60

WHAT::  An intensive, deep renewal hair therapy helps restore, replenish and reinforce dry, brittle, over-worked and even the most damaged hair to its brilliantly lustrous, healthy state.

WHY::  Cutting-edge biotechnology with Keravisâ„, a Vegetable Protein, strengthens, protects and nourishes the hair cuticle to help prevent breakage and enhance silkiness, shine, and manageability.  An exotic blend of Moroccan Lava Clay and Cedar Bark Extract from the Atlas Mountains, works synergistically with Nopal Extract (Cactus) to help clarify and restore hair from root to end.

VERDICT:: After 3 treatments (1st actually) hair was softer, not nearly at brittle looking, shinier.   Leave it in overnight and it does wonders.

This is a real luxury treatment for damaged hair.

And if it's good enough for Julia  Unknown it's good enough for me 🙂

Andy LeCompte keeps bringin on the color hits – GEORGE P. for a gorgeous mane

March 23, 2011

I'm no Demi Moore when it comes to the cell-self-port but here I go:

IMG00097-20110316-1220

It's simply unfair at this point that I'm not spreading the Groomed LA love  when it comes to reporting on colorists in LA.

But Andy LeCompte seems to have the most wicked collection of talent.

i. just. can't. stop.

George Papanikolas just lifted my horrible self-touched up (red? black? puke?) colored roots to a lighter carmelly tone and then pimped me out with mad highlights.

I actually brought in this cover for my inspiration:

O-miley-cyrus-is-marie-claire-s-march-cover-girl

Yup – it's Miley.  And about the only thing we have in common is the same letters in our name.

But isn't that color fab? He said it was too light for me, but we would go as far as we could without me looking washed up.  And 60.

George rocked it.

Check out George below.
