SkinSpirit Beverly Hills

We popped over to the new SkinSpirit location in Beverly Hills to see what all the buzz about and saw with our own eyes (and faces!) what this pioneer in advanced aesthetic treatments, medical-grade facials, and world class body services, is all about. Turns out – a lot! We will be heading back this May, to report on their signature facial and also a few more micro-tweaks with the incredible NP, Lynn Bartels. More about Lynn later, but she did the most amazing subtle refreshers with Botox and filler. Tiny micro-updates to balance, harmonize and refresh and the work was nothing short of amazing.

Lynn Bartels graduated from the Harbor-UCLA nurse practitioner program, with a dual degree in adult medicine and women’s health, and began her career as a nurse practitioner (NP) in cardio-thoracic surgery. She made the switch to aesthetics 17 years ago and was the first NP brought on board at SkinSpirit.

Today, Lynn treats patients from SkinSpirit’s Beverly Hills, Palo Alto and San Francisco clinics and stays on the cutting edge of new technology and techniques by working hands-on with thousands of patients a year. Recognized as an expert in the field of facial rejuvenation, Lynn specializes in creating custom non-surgical programs that use combination therapy to produce stunning results.

Celebrating Black History Month with biophile

February is Black History Month, and as a black-owned beauty brand, biophileco-founder Grace Fooden is sharing what this month means to her and how biophile is embracing it.

Grace Fooden is an African American businesswoman with over three decades of experience as a merchant, general manager and brand innovator. Grace is on a mission to inspire the next generation of POC business executives and creatives. She is on the board of advisors at Cal Poly Pomona’s Apparel, Merchandising and Marketing division and is a guest mentor at Otis College of Art and Design and the Fashion Design department of Long Beach University.

As a black female founder, how are you celebrating diversity at biophile?  I take time to share my journey with students at local junior colleges. I hope to inspire them to think outside the box about their career.

Why is it important that we celebrate Black History Month?  We have to honor the contributions of African Americans in society that have been overlooked!

Who are some African American leaders that have inspired you?  Innovation in science holds a special place in my heart. Harold Amos was a microbiologist and the first African American department chair at Harvard Medical school.

New Scent Alert: The Prequel Collection of 2020 From The Harmonist

So yah, right up my alley.

Lola  Tillyeave, the founder, invited the world-renowned LA tattoo artist Dr. Woo to collaborate on co-creating the visual expression of the Prequel collection given his unique and distinctive depictions of constellations and celestial bodies. The Prequel Collection is a limited-edition of 2,000 bottles, and each bottle comes with a numbered medallion signed by Dr. Woo. This is about as close to Dr. Woo as I’m going get.
