What is Vaser Liposuction: Vaser liposuction is a two-step method of liposuction. The first step involves using an ultrasound probe to emulsify the fat and at the same time protect other structures like blood vessels and connective tissue. The second step involves suctioning out the fat.

How does the Ultrasound Probe Work: The first step in any liposuction procedure is to inject tumescent fluid. This fluid has lidocaine and epinephrine mixed with saline. The lidocaine helps with pain control and the epinephrine reduces bleeding. The Vaser probe emits ultrasound waves at a high frequency to cause bubbles in the tumescent fluid to expand and contract. These bubbles continue to do this until they shatter and the energy from this knocks the fat cells off of the connective tissue and other structures, allowing for less traumatic and more precise suctioning of the fat.
