Wow. Ok, we wrote about Facile Dermatology and Boutique recently and I was so blown away by what I learned, I had to check it out for myself. And well, we were right! It wasn’t until I stepped foot into this stunningly appointed space that it hit me – this is a gem, a lucky find and my newest obsession and go-to recommendation for anyone looking to restore, rebalance, rejuvenate and prevent, and do it all while feeling like you’ve walked into a Paul Klee painting.

Besides being touted for its advanced cosmetic dermatology offerings it is also a high end boutique and product bar.

As mentioned when we first checked out the opening it’s a new concept in the skincare and beauty experience, created by Dr. Nancy Samolitis and Danielle Nadick – somewhere between a chic dermatologist office you wish was your living room, a day spa and a beauty boutique. Let’s not forget IV infusions and cutting edge anti-aging treatments such as laser therapy, cryofacials, micro needling, and more.

That being said, you will fall is love like I did with the phenomenal Michelle Messiah, PA-C who gave me the most rad PRP and micro-neddling treatment that I am now fully in her clutches for life. In layman’s speak this treatment the treatment I had, PRP (platelet-rich plasma from your blood) will help shrink pores, improve fine lines and stimulate new collagen) or, the Vampire Facial truly is life-giving. All I can say is do it. And if Kim Kardashian swears by it, then you know it works, because she’s clearly made a deal with the devil to stay perennially perfect. After your blood is drawn and spun to separate the blood and plasma, the plasma is injected into your face. Then Michelle did an intensive mico-needling (feels amazing!) and well, more blood and after a day of a little sore-ness you look 15. This is an elixir that basically is a must to your anti-aging, preventative routine.

After receiving her Master’s degree from Western University of Health Sciences and her Bachelor’s degree from UCLA’s Psych-Biology department, Michele quickly started practicing dermatology and perfecting her cosmetic skill set. She specializes in general dermatology, acne treatments, with a special focus on cosmetic facial rejuvenation using peels, Botox, fillers, and medical laser procedures. Michele continues to learn and perfect her craft, taught by the best in the industry. Bonus – Michele believes that most dermatologic issues are not just skin deep, which is why she focuses on a holistic approach to medicine.

Q&A

Favorite treatment? I love micro needling coupled with PRP and always a little filler here and there.

Favorite product? I am obsessed with Malin+Goetz “Vitamin E moisturizer”. I finally found a moisturizer that has an anti-oxidative effect without clogging my pores.

Biggest vice? My Rose, I mean my Red’s; no I mean my old world wines. Really just wine it’s good for the heart ?

The CIEL SPA at the SLS recently relaunched under the guidance of Pear Wellness with a bevy of amazing face treatments. I recently checked it out and had a facial that was super lovely. While they don’t believe in steam or extractions,it was relaxing and felt great and Katarina was awesome. They do offer more high-tech, purpose driven offerings but the one I had was the perfect facial if you want to buy a beauty-relaxation gift for a someone and don’t want to go for anything too extreme like a boss, a mother in law or bride. And there is a lot to say about a day at a hotel spa where you can steam and relax and take a little mini-vacation. The white Phillipe Starck 5,000 square foot spa has 6 treatment rooms including a couples massage room with side by side soaking tubs all complimented by the 1,000 foot relaxation lounge with bite size snacks by SLS Hotel Culinary Director, Jose Andres. You can chill amidst luxury retail such as Voyage et Cie Candles and Bath Products, Emerson Ryder Jewelry and Emi Jay Hair Care and Tees.

Ciel Spa is the first Los Angeles spa to feature Biologique Recherche skincare for facial services. The Biologique Recherché Methodology is well-loved for its concentrated, raw ingredients that produce healthy, glowing skin.

Dairy and Breakouts and NERD Skincare

According to bioengineer Evelyn Chen, dairy products can “wreak havoc on our skin” so she founded NERD SKINCARE products to manipulate the good bacteria of dairy to kill off the bad. You know, keep the good intact, all the while omitting harsh chemicals like benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or retinol from the picture. Science is fucking awesome, you guys!

I began using NERD’s skincare about 3 weeks ago, and have to say it’s actually a bitchin’ product.

The clarifying cleanser features a yogurt probiotic to soften skin and omegas 3 and 6 which produce anti-inflammatory benefits to help fight wrinkles and and keep skin hydrated. It feels extra creamy like a lotion, produces a slight lather and my face feels clean and renewed.

The acne treatment “lotion” is the next step in the NERD process. I found it to be more like a tonic or toner – it’s impossible to apply from fingers-to-face because it runs right off so I use cotton balls to apply. But its super powers vow to fight off that villainous bacteria commonly found on the face. It even helps suppress the growth of future bacteria with proprietary organic compounds as raw materials to helping to create more ammo to fight the acne-causing bacteria. This is the future, BBs.

My results? MY PORES HAVE TIGHTENED, something I’ve been struggling with for awhile now! Yassss.

NERD’s accompanying moisturizer, or “nourishing cream” boasts 6 different types of ceramides (basically types of molecules) and 27 more active ingredients.

All scientific jargon aside, the cream is thick enough to satisfy my thirst for hydration yet settles in fairly quickly so I can move on to make up, spin class or what ever the torture I’ve tasked myself for the day.

All in all, I’d recommend to girlfriends who are trying to avoid the acne products with harsh acids/peroxides with a flair for science and gorg packaging.

Doc Zara’s Custom Rejuvenation Complex Treatment at CRMC

Who knew that right around the corner (basically!) from my house is a little gem tucked away upstairs in the building on the corner of Santa Monica and Fairfax! It’s called the Cosmetic Rejuvenation Medical Center and this is where the wonderful Doc Zara presides. This funky spot, in a place you would never expect, is doing some excellent custom treatments. I could not wait to meet this “in-the-know” injector and leading clinician and even bette – have her do one of her signature facial treatments on me. It is especially fun when I discover a med spa that I had no idea even existed, and one with major services of all kinds!

Doc Zara, lovely in every way imaginable, and I discussed what I could use to freshen up. I have previously visited this clinic to get Juvederm injectable filler put into my lips, just to give them a little plump. As I loved the treatment so much, I’ve come back to ask her to freshen up my skin next. As it is mid-summer, lasers for my skin type is not idea, so we discussed an awesome specialty that only Doc Zara does. She calls it the Custom Rejuvenation Complex Treatment .

What is it? She uses a specially formulated mix that consists of Botox,Hyaluronic acid, growth factors and vitamins. With the help of AQUAGOLD^® fine touch™ microneedling device, the products delivers it right into the dermis.
