Finally the sun is shining, the rain has cleared and I am ready to get my tired tush out of the gym and back to the beach for my favorite Body Inspired Boot Camp! Who wouldn’t want to start their day with the dolphins in the distance, the sand between your toes and knowing that you are going to look and feel great after a killer workout?

Body Inspired Fitness is the brainchild of fitness expert Angela Parker. Working with Angela and her staff was like having my own team of personal trainers. Even working within the group, Angela would tailor the workout to my specific needs and goals, constantly encouraging me to challenge myself, and help me reach my personal best. My personal goal? To feel better, get toned and tackling those skinny jeans hiding at the back of my closet. Sigh…

So I signed up for the 6 week Body Inspired Camp and committed myself to working out 3 times a week at 8:45am, with the option of attending a Saturday beach workout.

On Mondays and Wednesdays the camp met at the Santa Monica Bluffs, where Ocean Ave and Palisades Ave meet, and incorporated cardio with strength training, core work and agility training. Some clients ran, some walked. Everyone pushed themselves to a different level. But the group was always motivating and inspiring. I personally challenged myself to take on running and those infamous Santa Monica stairs.

On Fridays we met at the Adderley Performing Arts School, in the Pacific Palisades, for Pilates, core training, gliders and stretching. A great way to break up the week and focus on those trouble spots.

Saturdays, which were my favorite workouts, we had the option of meeting at the Will Rogers State Beach. Here Angela incorporated everything we had worked on during the week with the added joy and challenge of working out on the beach. I’ll tell you there is nothing like the resistance of the sand to make you have to push a little harder on those jump squats, or dig in on that run from the lifeguard station.

Body Inspired Fitness even has an evenings Ladies Only Camp that focuses on improving cardio while toning hips, thighs, arms and core. Ah, my favorite spots!

Plus, each week I would get an inspirational email with fit tips and words of encouragement to stay on my fitness track and reach my goal.

Each workout session had different exercises that kept things fresh and fun! Most days I was truly excited to kiss my kids off to school and slide into my running shoes.

And very best of all, at the end of the 6 weeks, I felt empowered! I could run longer; kill those Santa Monica stairs, and my arms hips and abs felt toned and fabulous. And finally, that’s right ladies… I slipped into those skinny jeans. Love it!
