How is it that something as simple as a blow dry can make a woman feel so good?
When Groomed was recently invited to test out the new blowdry (and more) bar EDEN by Eden Sassoon, I couldn't resist.
The word Eden evokes certain memories for me. Images flooding back to nights years ago spent club hopping in Hollywood, and Garden of Eden (now owned by different owners and in a different reincarnation) was always a favorite. I loved the glitz, glamour and occasional sleeze of Hollywood nightlife. I eventually grew up, entered the real world of work, rent and responsibilities. I didn't have the luxury (nor really want) to be a princess who parties. Those days were very fun though. Perhaps a similarity between my rememberance of my glory days at the Garden of Eden and EDEN is the prevalence of pretty people, pretty things and old fashioned good style.
What set's EDEN apart from all the rest? A myriad of beauty treatments (including blow outs, trims, Phyto hair treatments, manicures and makeup application just to skim the surface) all under one roof for $65 or under and all within 65 minutes.
I like this quote from Eden Sassoon and thought it summarized her unique concept well "The modern woman needs more than just her hair styled. Whether for her everyday life or for going to that special event, she also needs her nails polished and her brows shaped or a full makeup application. Being that she has more responsibility than ever and more constraints on her time and money, she needs to be able to get all of these services without having to drive all over town and without having to pay an arm and a leg to do so. At EDEN, she can finally do all that at a price and within an amount of time that gives her permission to go each week."
Hallelujah to women embracing their feminity, not feeling guilty for wanting to look good, at an affordable rate.
The studio design is modern sophisticate with different styles of wood and calming, soft colors to compliment the inviting, open environment. EDEN boasts 12 hair stations, 2 makeup stations and 2 manicure stations. Products offered include Phyto, Sojourn (owned by Eden's brother Elan Sassoon), VoCe', Smashbox Cosmetics and Butter LONDON for nail care. Styling tools from beauty giants Bio Ionic and Mason Pearson and skin tools from Clarisonic can be purchased as well. Black and white photography depicting LA and Malibu living, fashion and beauty line the walls. Several of the photographs are contributed from close friends of Eden: Davis Factor , Scott Caan and Patrick Hoelck.
I had the pleasure of having my hair styled by Chloe. She is a talent. Fresh faced, sweet, stylish and gives a mean blow out. I like soft hair but with loads of volume and textured curls. Just a bit of teasing (if any at all). She nailed this look and my blow out lasted for days.
EDEN is open 7 days a week and located at 8600 W. Sunset Blvd. West Hollywood, 90068. Call 310.861.4660 to make an appt. You won't regret it.
