Prolon Discount Code for Groomed LA Readers!!

Super EASY – click this Prolon link which is my personal page – As you know I am obsessed  with with Prolon and hunted them down (re: stalked) until I was able to get a code for my listeners, readers and followers. This shows them I am not kidding when I say I want to and WILL share the fasting love. WOOT!

I had a few friends joining me on 2nd round (for first timers, it’s recommended to do 3 months in a row) and now I am getting us all mentally prepared for round 3. You totally need to join us on May for Mother’s Day! Yup. What better a gift than the gift of longevity?!

My first tip (and I’ll give a bunch as we get closer to May) is fast with a friend. We all know how the buddy system works. We text, we talk, we get into our feelings about not shoving food in our pie holes JUST BECAUSE. We talk to our hunger! And each other.

Here’s a sneak peak of the sched:

Next, my biggest tip: shift your perception from glass half empty attitude to half full. It’s not about five days going ‘without’ but rather what you will gain. You will be so surprised to discover ALL THERE IS when food is not there (for the most part, or, food on your usual terms). A feeling of spaciousness, quiet, clarity, serenity. You’ll gain control over your hunger (yes, you’ll feel ‘hunger’ and then it passes and you’ll think wow, that’s it?? I am totally fine!) and your fear of hunger once you see what’s on the other side.

But this is just one of psychological and emotional boosts – the Prolon #fastingmimickingdiet is for longevity and health, first and foremost. However I do believe our psychological attachment to food is the hardest thing to get over and why some people will lose out on the health benefits – for some it seems too scary to get going. Not to mention the fear of failure.

Cool thing is there is a huge community on their Facebook page too – with Q and A’s with the doctors and lots of support.

Head to my podcast with Dr. James Kelly to learn about the science of fasting. I can’t believe we are not all fasting more. (yet!)

So many levels of self-awareness revealed themselves to me, in my first round. But that was just icing on the cake (no pun). The 5 day fasting with food is the only way to get the full effects of fasting only WITH food.

Think: Enhanced Performance: Feel greater focus, clarity and energy, through the benefits of a leaner body. Fat Focused Weight Loss: Fastest way to lose fat (especially belly fat) while protecting lean body mass.Enhance Cellular Function: Trigger stem cell-based regeneration and autophagy, (the clean up of aging & damaged cells) & promote stem cell-based renewal. Metabolic Health: Maintain healthy levels of blood glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure, as well as markers of inflammation for overall wellness.

I completely mastered my hunger (and total FEAR of it) to the point where I’m now on a 36 hour fast and it’s like NO BIG DEAL (Thank you @metabolicmike for your FB group!!).

I feel INCREDIBLE – as in two months later – LASTING effects, weight loss, hunger and mind control – insane energy. It’s so damn good.

My third month is in May – WHO IS JOINING ME??

CBD Oil – Is the Hype Real?

February 26, 2019

Since medical marijuana has started to become legalized in some states of the U.S., cannabidiol (CBD) oil is the new craze sweeping the nation. The thought is that this non-intoxicating extract is able to help treat a wide range of medical issues such as seizures, mental health problems, inflammation and insomnia. However, experts have been saying that the evidence found is insufficient to prove most of the benefits it is supposed to possess. So, is the hype real?

About CBD and Legalization

Marijuana or hemp plants can have cannabidiol extracted from their flowers and buds. It doesn’t contain the chemical, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which causes intoxication in people who smoke the plant.

Thirty states have now legalized CBD oil. These states have also legalized recreational and/or medical marijuana. An additional seventeen states have laws that are CBD-specific on the record.

As its legality increases, so does its availability. It can be found in pharmaceutical stores as well as online. US Hemp Wholesale is one of the popular companies that provide CBD products. If these products really work for you, then this site sells it wholesale which will help save you money in the long-run.

Strong Evidence Supporting Epilepsy Treatment

There is a significant amount of scientific evidence that supports the use of CBD oil to effectively treat epilepsy. In May 2018, a study was completed by the NYU School of Medicine which found that CBD could significantly reduce the number of seizures in patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome; one of the most serious forms of epilepsy. An earlier study published in 2017 by the National Neurological Institute in Pavia, Italy, had similar findings in regards to controlling seizures.

Recently, a unanimous decision was made by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advisory panel to approve recommending CBD medication ‘Epidiolex’ as a remedy to help with the treatment of two rare forms of epilepsy in children. This is the main area where there has been enough evidence for the FDA to accept the new drug as a prescribed treatment.

Positive Results as an Anti Inflammatory Medication

Further studies have found that cannabidiol oil is proving useful as an anti-inflammatory treatment. Although most of the positive results so far have come from studies on animals, there is strong evidence to suggest that CBD is 20 times more effective than aspirin when used as an anti-inflammatory, and twice as effective as prescription hydrocortisone. It is because of this that it is currently being used by patients suffering from swelling, cardiovascular inflammation, arthritis, chronic pain, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Other patients that CBD may aid include those with alcoholic liver diseases, which are associated with inflammation and oxidative stress, and those who have suffered from strokes. More research is of course still necessary, but many believe the studies on humans will have similar results to those performed on rats.

CBD Proving Useful for Those with Anxiety and Panic Disorders

Anxiety and panic disorders are believed to affect as much as 5% of the world’s population, with many sufferers managing their conditions through a mixture of cognitive behavioral therapy and medication. However, studies completed in 2017 found that CBD may be a promising alternative treatment. Better yet, researchers have found that CBD is a non-addictive form of treatment, and a patient’s tolerance level for it doesn’t increase when used overtime. Because of this, it may be a better treatment option than the current medication options (antidepressant drugs and benzodiazepines) for the 350 million + who suffer from anxiety. It is believed that further studies may have similar outcomes for those suffering from other psychiatric disorders.

To summarize, there is some supporting evidence that this revolutionary new drug works for the consumer/patient and due to this research, it has become a prescribed medication for epilepsy. There is also a strong possibility that it is able to effectively work as an anti-inflammatory and as an anti-anxiety drug and we could start seeing CBD prescribed for these conditions in the future as well. As more studies are completed, we will likely see even more benefits of CBD come to light; one day there will be proof that this new hype is worth being excited about.

Pso-Rite – Ultimate Self-Massage Tool

December 31, 2018

The PSO-RITE the full body self-massage tool my body has been asking for. Hi there and THANK YOU for coming into existence. The versatile tool (lots of videos on how to use it are avail) mimics the hand and elbow. So think of the feeling when you get a massage from say, a Thai massage or deep therapeutic therapist. I am loving it for my Psoas which is always tight and in pain. But you can use it to release for shoulders, hamstrings, lower back and neck. I love the large one – though there is a small little travel size for smaller pressure points – however I recommend the big kahuna. It really gets the job done and then some. I love lying on it and working on breathing through the deep release. HOLY SHIT SO GOOD!!!

CBD 101 Review For Those Of You Still Confused

November 9, 2018

If you still think CBD and “pot” are the same – let’s get this straight. It’s not even close. You clearly know by now that CBD is the biggest wellness craze of 2018.  Let’s keep this simple:

Is CBD oil the key to a better night’s sleep?

CBD is a fantastic medicine with some pretty wild benefits. It’s been proven to help manage epilepsy, to help people prevent and manage the symptoms of cancer, and has even helped people manage chronic pain that has bothered them for years.

Sounds like pretty intense stuff, right? But the fact is, CBD is just a natural medicine found in the hemp and cannabis plants. And, while it can be used to help people with serious illnesses, the majority of people use it for daily problems: anxiety, depression, stress relief, and the like.

Many people have wondered if using CBD oil can help them get a better night’s sleep. The short answer is a solid yes!, but we’re going to explain it a bit better than that.

What Is CBD?

CBD is the short form of the name cannabidiol, a compound that occurs naturally in the marijuana plant. CBD has been shown to have a huge number of medicinal benefits.

It’s a lot different than THC, despite the fact that the two compounds have a lot of similar properties and are structurally almost identical. The main difference is that THC is known to cause a number of psychoactive effects and results in a significant change of headspace, whereas CBD can provide its benefits without actually

CBD, and other cannabinoids (including the ones that our bodies produce on their own) work by influencing a system in the body known as the endocannabinoid system, or the ECS. This system is highly involved in regulating and performing a huge number of our bodily functions.

CBD works on this system indirectly. That means that it doesn’t directly bind to the receptors in the system like THC does. This is one reason for the significant difference in the effects of these two compounds. By indirectly affecting these receptors, CBD helps to bring the endocannabinoid system back into balance.

CBD and Insomnia

To understand why CBD is useful for treating insomnia, then you should know a bit about insomnia first. CBD is unique in that it functions a lot differently than traditional sleeping meds, which aim to simply knock you out flat regardless of what’s going on.

By regulating a system that affects our whole body – the ECS – CBD helps us target problems at their roots. This means that we can actually address or identify the cause of our insomnia easier when we use CBD because we will still be cognizant while we’re falling asleep.

CBD has been proven to treat many forms of insomnia caused by many reasons.

  • Many people have insomnia because they are anxious. Their worries and thoughts can keep them awake for hours. CBD helps to fight anxiety and can thus reduce related insomnia.
  • Some people have imbalances in their neurotransmitter systems. For example, people with GABA imbalances often have insomnia. By restoring balance to these systems, CBD can help fight insomnia.
  • Some people have insomnia because they struggle with conditions like PTSD, marked by flashbacks, anxiety, and paranoia. CBD has been shown to improve sleep in patients with PTSD.
  • Some people simply have insomnia for reasons like drinking coffee too late in the day. CBD can promote relaxation in almost all cases and make it easier to fall asleep.

Not only is CBD great for helping people identify and manage insomnia, but it doesn’t cause many side effects.

Sleeping pills – even over-the-counter ones – are notorious for their dangerous side effects. The most common side effects include extreme sedation, grogginess the day after, and a reduced quality of sleep. Ironic – they knock you out, but you feel even less rested the day after.

CBD doesn’t really cause any side effects. If anything, it will leave you feeling better than before you took it.

CBD has emerged as a fantastic alternative to a number of dangerous and addictive drugs. One thing that CBD has shown remarkable potential for is helping people manage their insomnia. Hopefully this article has helped you better understand how this compound works and why it’s so great for sleep.
