Move Over CBD, Make Room For CBN

October 13, 2020

It’s safe to say that the pandemic has created a shift in all of us to some degree or another. Many have struggled with adapting to the work from home environment, new or old found anxieties creeping in and adjusting to a new sleep schedule for those no longer having to commute to and from an office. More than ever, people have been looking for ways to remedy any discomfort they might be feeling. CBD is a cannabinoid that has been known to alleviate stress and anxiety while also providing many other benefits to our bodies. As we learn more about the magic healing powers of hemp and cannabis, we learn more about other cannabinoids and their functions. CBN is a minor cannabinoid known for helping induce and optimize sleep.

Potli, a California based wellness company, is stepping into the world of CBN with their newest product, “Dream” Honey. “Dream” is a CBN-forward honey that helps you get to and stay asleep. Add to tea before bed or enjoy straight from the spoon to unwind, relax, and drift off into restful slumber. Dream” is a full-spectrum formula including CBN, CBD, and either melatonin or THC to promote deep, rejuvenating rest. Potli’s raw, wildflower honey is harvested on their own hives. The hemp derived honey retails for $32.00 and the 4oz includes 120mg CBN, 60mg CBD and 6mg Melatonin. They tested many different ratios of CBN and CBD, and found this 2:1 ratio was just perfect for helping you relax and fall asleep without any grogginess in the morning.

Potli is the premium purveyor for the modern, CBD-enhanced kitchen pantry. Potli strives to bring a top quality, delicious, and easy to integrate cannabis edibles products to your kitchen to help you embrace plant-based wellness and self care every single day. Founded in 2017, Potli is a brand of premium hemp infused products which are differentiated from other edible CBD products by an obsession with quality and craftsmanship. Their products include hemp infused Honey, Apple Cider Vinegar, Olive Oil, Chili Oil and Sriracha. Their story begins with honey, which is harvested in their own hives in the Bay Area of California. The  flagship honey product was created for co-founder Felicity Chen’s mom, an asthma patient and a first generation immigrant, who had been deterred from exploring the health benefits of cannabis by its once negative reputation. With her in mind,  Felicity and her partner Christine Yi,  set out to craft a product you could trust, where quality or dosage was undoubtedly clear and apparent. Potli hopes to change the emotional response to cannabis in so many from intimidation and uncertainty to excitement and joy.

“We’re a modern wellness brand with a mission to heighten your kitchen and daily rituals with the benefits of cannabis and hemp. Ever since we launched our CBD honey, the most common customer feedback we heard was that they loved using it before bed for sleep. As we thought about how to make our products more functional yet keep the integrity of simple, easy to integrate products, we wanted to lean in more to the need for a good night’s sleep and add melatonin and CBN to make it even more restful.”

Tell us a little bit about how Dream came about?

Potli started because my co-founder, Felicity’s father started beekeeping to harvest healthy, hyper local honey for her mother. It was our first product and still a fan favorite, and we’ve heard since 2017 that people love to use the honey in tea before bed. One of our first customers told us that through our honey she slept without interruptions for the first time in 4 years! Dream is a way to formulate specifically to that use case and help our clients get great sleep. It’s formulated with CBN, CBD, and just a touch of melatonin to help you fall and stay asleep.

What is CBN?

CBN is a minor cannabinoid that I think will become a staple in health in the next few years for its sleep-promoting properties. Much like CBD, it’s non-intoxicating and great for inflammation and pain.

How is it different from other cannabinoids?

Many cannabinoids have overlapping health benefits like pain relief and anxiety relief, but CBN in particular is known for inducing sleep. From my personal experience in experimenting with it, I view it similarly to melatonin but without any grogginess which I often feel with too high of a dose with melatonin.

How does Dream align with other Potli products?

Like the rest of our products, Dream is still super meticulously sourced, high quality, and delicious! I think it fits into our portfolio in that this is our first product specifically made for evenings.

What is the benefit of incorporating Dream into your routine?

With all that’s going on in the world right now, we all need to get the rest we deserve. Dream not only helps you fall asleep but I’ve also experienced a huge increase in the quality of my sleep. When I wake up I feel truly well rested and I’m ready to go. Now when I take Dream I know it’s time for me to relax and unwind.

Given the pandemic and so many people are struggling with new sleep patterns and other mental health problems- how can Potli products help?

Dream (and other Potli products) are great mental and physical health aid. So Potli helps you feel more centered and relaxed, but I think even just the intention setting when using Potli products- adding some self care in the AM when adding our CBD honey to your coffee, or beating afternoon slump with Potli olive oil, or even using our THC products (available in CA dispensaries) to demarcate when work ends and relaxation begins is so impactful when we’re spending more time inside and isolated. Potli’s core philosophy is intentionality and self care, so in a way the stressful environments we’re operating in now are exactly why we do what we do!

Potil retails at many dispensaries in the Los Angeles and Bay Area, but “Dream” will be available exclusively online at https://www.potlishop.com/ on September 28th, 2020.
