The Aura Company Launches its First Yoga Studio in the Prestigious Sunset Plaza

After successfully launching top indoor cycling studio, AuraCycle, the Aura fitness brand launches its first venture into the yoga space with AuraYoga (www.aurayoga.com). The first hot yoga establishment in Sunset Plaza, the studio will cater to the growing yoga community of West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and surrounding areas. “

AuraYoga features superior craftsmanship with no detail overlooked. From inspired design elements such as handpicked wood accents, the balance of nature and modern thinking is exhibited. Adding to the atmosphere will be Aura’s trademark custom ambient lighting system.

The studio takes note of the positive effects of multi-sensory stimulation to achieve the best workout for students while create a relaxing, zen-like atmosphere. “It was important for us to combine the traditional elements of a studio combined with advanced technology to increase the overall experience,” says cofounder Maurizio Pelone. The walls surrounding the studio will glow soothing colors during the class. Instructors will customize the lighting with the flow of the class and audio choices.

Classes will take place atop ultra-premium Zebra Mats flooring. This advanced matting design enables higher friction between the body and floor, enabling positions to be held longer with increased comfort by way of the shock-absorbing cushion system. Flooring being a major part of the yoga experience, the highest quality materials was picked.

Master Yoga Instructor Jake Ferree will spearhead the training and class design for the studio. "Our goal behind each Aura class is to give our students an experience, we want them to leave feeling refreshed and refueled.” Classes will range from Hot Aura Flow to Aura Restorative. Ferree states, “The practice is so much greater than just the poses, uplift your aura and experience the journey.”

Prices start at $22 per class with $110 monthly for unlimited classes.

Located at 8608 A Sunset Blvd. West Hollywood, CA 90069.

Free parking available in the Sunset Plaza lots.

About: The Aura fitness company was founded by Jay Palau and Maurizio Pelone in April 2013, starting with the successful launch of indoor cycling studio, AuraCycle. Both founders spent a year perfecting the every detail of their first yoga studio, AuraYoga set to launch in September 2013. Palau, who was raised in Miami, Fl thrived on Wall Street after graduating the University of Pennsylvania. Despite his success on Wall Street he always wanted to be in hospitality and this was the catalyst that sparked his entrepreneurial spirit to seek out a partner to start his own studio. Pelone, an Italian native, brought 15 years of experience in the fitness world as a premier fitness trainer and former professional swimmer and triathlete.

RAMP UP YOUR RUNNING ROUTINE WITH TIPS FROM LOLË RUNNING AMBASSADOR LEANNE SHEAR

August 13, 2013

Lole Running Image

THINK: Running made easy with expert advice

WHAT IT IS: Top running tips and tricks from Lolë’s professional Running Ambassador Leanne Shear. Fall is the best time of year to kick-start a new running routine. With the majority of marathons happening nationwide during the autumn season, and crisp weather calling for outdoor jogs, Lolë is pleased to share the wisdom of beloved Running Ambassador, Leanne Shear with fans looking to get run-ready.

As Co-Founder of Uplift, a women-only fitness studio in New York City, respected author, and motivational personal trainer,Shear has been helping women to live fuller, more active lives for years. She’s also one of Lolë’s top Running Ambassadorsleading the brand’s complimentary meet-up fitness sessions and sharing her knowledge on the best gear, nutrition, and training methods with devoted fans. In honor of running season, now everyone can benefit from the insider expertise of this 3:29 marathoner.

So update your fitness regime this running season with these simple tips:

Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned racer, Shear knows that in athletics, like in life, those big hills and challenging moments are daunting. Instead of dreading the trial, Shear offers this helpful advice. “When you get to a big hill, don’t panic,” she says. “This too shall pass. To make it easier, shorten your stride considerably, and make quicker, choppier steps, while pumping your arms (and keeping your shoulders relaxed) to help propel you up and over. Don’t forget to ‘pop the top.’ In other words, don’t slow down and start dragging your feet when the top is in sight. Continue powerfully

over the hill and then dial back to head down the back end.”

For her pre-race diet Shear explains that, “Carb loading the night before a race really isn’t necessary and in fact has been proven somewhat ineffective, especially for women. In lieu of that, eat a healthy dinner and then a solid breakfast, including a good fat (like nut butter), protein, and good carbs (like brown rice or sweet potato).” Right before a run, she recommends either a small handful of almonds or “if you need more fuel, try the good carb, good fat, plus protein combo, for example, a whole-wheat English muffin with almond butter and banana. And of course, lots of water is essential to good performance to keep muscles hydrated.”  Then, to recover from a tough workout, Shear recommends stretching and yoga. She says, “For some of us runners, stretching and yoga is an afterthought at best. However, flexibility will definitely make you a better runner.”

Shear’s must-have wardrobe picks:

When it comes to must-have running wear, Shear says, “For me, lightweight leggings and a great tank top are key pieces. I highly recommend Lolë’s Run Capri, with breathable mesh inserts to keep you dry, plus a convenient zip pocket for keys. Their Central Tank Top is made for running and has an iPod pocket built in. For my post run yoga recovery practice, I like the Lolё Savasana tank top for the ultimate in zen comfort.”  Another way this pro gets ready to run is by “getting every last piece of hair out of my face.” Shear likes to secure her ponytail with a Lolë headband because it “hassubtle rubber grip to mitigate sliding, and it also isn’t too tight, which tends to be a problem with other bands.” To complete your head to toe running ensemble, just add a pair of shoes that optimize your personal comfort. “Sneakers are very specific to each individual and body type,” she says. “If possible, go get your gait analyzed by professionals at a local running or sporting goods store and test a few pairs out and see where things land.”

SHAPE HOUSE ON ITS WAY TO BECOMING LA’S NUMBER ONE HEALTHY ADDICTION (IT’S ALREADY MINE)

August 6, 2013

Juice cleanse? Check

Kundalini Yoga? Check.

Cross fit? Check.

Paleta Home delivery meals? Check.

Lunch at the latest vegan Raw Foodie restaurant? Check.

Personal Guru, Psychic, Astrologer? Check.

We Angeleno's have cornered the market on our quest to be 100% toxin, stress and excess-weight free.  We juice, cleanse, meditate, exercise, seek spiritual counsel or hit AA meetings around the clock.

So what's left to get excited about? What's left to tap into?

I was doing Raw Foods when people were just getting hip to Vegetarianism. VEGETARIANISM! At one point in the 90's, I ate nothing but fruit.  (Wish I was joking).

In my now highly normalized, balanced mid-life as a mom of two nothing is off limits. I don't drink, smoke or do drugs and my biggest addiction is Splenda. Still, I find myself missing out on the benefits of my younger, more die-hard days of rigorous health consciousness.

Breakfast for this mom on the go is a Think Thin Bar and dinner is finishing what's left on my kids' plates.  I need a boost but have no patience, time or tolerance for restricting or depriving.  My body is not exactly a wonderland, my brain is on overdrive and there is no luxury of time for an hour and a half yoga class.

The gods of my mid-life, been there, done that existence hath spoken to me.

The ultimate detox, relax, recharge, lose weight, improve overall, well, overall everything is here. And holy shit, it's right on Larchmont!  My happy place!!

Get ready to let go, lose weight, clear your skin, get a better night's rest and sweat your ass off, all of this, inside an Infrared blanket.

Sohpie Chiche owner and founder,  but if you ask me, the most amazing, inspired guru among us (check out her TED talks and her amazing website LIFE BY ME) explains:

"We take the body to 158 degrees if you can handle it we push a little harder..if it’s too much we back off.”

The 55 minute session goes like this: You put on cozy sweats and socks, are led to a private curtained off room, get snuggled on a massage-like table in the super womb blanket, given Alkaline water, a remote control to choose from the best stuff ever to watch or listen to (HBO, TED Talks, Netflix, Hulu, Music, etc) or simply close your eyes as the toxins, water and shitty karma drips out of every single pore.  Keep 'em open and watch the amazing changing light (color therapy?!) play against the walls as you heat, heat, heat up.

The machine heats up your body while your body is trying to cool you down and that effort alone can burn anywhere from 800-1200 calories.

What comes out of your body is 96 % water the rest is toxins and a bunch of psychic bullshit you've been holding onto in my unscientific opinion.

What is Infrared Heat?

Far Infrared, aka FIR or Infrared, is similar to the heat that comes from the sun. You can’t see it, but you can feel its heat. But Infrared light/heat is very different than ultraviolet light (UV) which causes sunburn and damage to your skin. Infrared heat is within the same frequency as your own body heat.  It is healthy, natural and a safe therapy. Infrared light allows uniform deep heat penetration that is highly effective as a source of healing.

 GOT MORE QUESTIONS?

Far Infrared is a part of the natural light spectrum just beyond visible light.  You can’t see this band of light, but you can feel it in the form of radiant heat. The heat you feel from the sun, for example, is infrared energy. Don’t confuse it, however, with ultraviolet light (UV), which causes sunburn and damage to your skin. Infrared heat is healthy, natural and a safe therapy for all living things.

Infrared energy produces a uniform deep heat penetration without the usual sensation of feeling hot. This is achieved by using a specific Infrared band of energy peaking at around 9.4 micons; a level designed to penetrate beyond the skin (where heat is most acutely felt) to a depth where fat resides. As this subcutaneous fat begins to heat, your body begins to thermo-regulate itself by producing sweat.

And in the process of sweating, the multiple benefits are achieved… detoxing, skin conditioning, cardio fitness, relaxation, weight loss, and emotional health.
